well I would think that with sanding you might be able too, but I also thought mystic was a coating of candied paint? If that is the case then you have to be carefull to not go through it.

Mystic paint and a rattle can? This dude needs help.......

From what I learned in school its actually a pearl, vs a candie..meaning its a basecoat of black then basically a pearlcoat of what makes it mystic, then clear. A candy is kinda the same, but different in how its applied.

If your gonna try to do it, maybe try some 2500 grit first, try to just remove the dead clear..

This is not fixable. Only real fix is a new paint job. The clearcoat on your car has failed and needs replacement.

No.
I told you in your intro thread that paint was dead and needed to be removed and re-sprayed. My Cobra has the same problem.

I highly doubt it. I know it sucks to get it done, but you can't let such a beautiful paint go to waste. Please bring it back.

You own a MYSTIC COBRA. If you thought fixing the paint was going to be cheap, you were sorely mistaken. If you arent gonna fix it right, let somebody buy it who will =D

Any reputable paint shop can mix you mystic paint. I got the paint code the other day and went to my friends paint shop. There was one pearl he didn't have in stock and is showing up this week.. Then I'm getting some made up for fun

New clear won't do anything on top of already failed clear coat. I suppose if you were someone who buffed your car all the time and had a really nice car but thin clear, you could have the car re-cleared and reset the clock, but once she peels, she's done. Repaint time. IIRC the Mystic is a BASF paint and runs about $1600 a gallon for just the paint.

What surprises me is how many Mystics just got daily driven and beat like any other color. Given the premium it added to the Cobra price and the rarity and price of fixing it, you'd think more people would've bought these and tucked them away. Nice color when it shines though.

....but see, it WASNT rare. It was just unusual at the time. 15 years ago.
I mean think about it, its not a big deal to see color shifting paint or multi stage paints on new cars anymore.
Back when it came out yeah it was like 1600 a gallon... but nowadays I bet the price has come down some as the aftermarket stepped in and made duplicate formulations of that color. I know thats the case with the Rio Red that is on my Cobra. If I want the OEM multistage paint, yeah its pretty pricey, but there is another formula out there that brings the price way down. And without having the critical eye of a bodyman, most people wouldnt know the difference anyway.
