I am wanting to buy Borla side exhaust system from RGS in the classifieds. Does anyone know if it will work on my convertible before I send him the $? I think I heard somewhere that it matters! Thanks!!

look at the crossbraces for the convertable top and see how far they extend. just try to eyeball it from the end of the brace to the beginning of the side skirt.

I do not know anything about what you just said. I have my Latemodel, Must Unlimited, YearOne, and my CDC catalogs out. In just one of them it says the system cannot work with a conv. Mustangs Unlimited one that says! It is a CDC product and that says nothing about it! I just knew I have heard about the cross braces. I have no clue what they are or even look like! Thanks so much though! I might just have to wait until Monday and ask my exhaust guy!

i think what the magazine is talking about is it won't work with sub-frame connectors which sit on top of the front and rear subframes and make the car as if it had a true frame rail like a truck or older car. If you don't have sub-frame connector then it should fit.

I just came from my former Mustang owning buddy's house. He now owns a Lightning. We looked @ my catalogs and stuff. In my Year One catalog and it shows of a Ford Racing side exit system. You look closely and you can see ‘Borla’ on the Mufflers though! It says nothing about it not working with my car, a convertible. In another catalog is has the same setup but you cannot see what brand it is. It says it cannot be used.

That guy told me that I was thinking the subframe and cross braces were the same thing. He told me that your car does not come stock with SFs. I am now 97% sure it will work. That is a HUGE 3% though! I just need need to give this up for 1 more morning! I don't see that happening though! Thanks!!

The Mustang Unlimited says, "Does not fit with sub-frame connectors or convertible."

GREG@SN95, did you have the exact set I am trying to buy? I hope so!

oh... thats a side kit... I ran the regular cat back... the one that goes over the axle... It was expensive and worth every penny...

I have no idea whether or not the side kit will work... I guess Mustangs Unlimited says it won't, then it probably will not... If you want it that bad, you could always take it to a shop and have it modified... The side exhaust kits really aren't the best anyways... they look good, but a cat back will give you better gains and (IMO) sounds better...

I am running a southern ingénued side exit system on my car right now! I freaking love it! I do not buy things to make my car go faster anyhow! I had 2 different rear exiting systems on my car before this. I think this blows it all away! Thanks for your input!! See ya!!

I had it on a convertible with subframe connectors. It fit fine without the SFCs, and had to be tweaked a bit when I had the SFCs installed.

Thanks so much! I talked with my exhaust guy this morning. He said it should fit, with no probs. If needed to, he can get it to fit! I can't wait!!
