So today my dad pickd up a 98 V6 Vert dirt cheap to use as a parts car for mine. Battery is toast, but its all there, 76k mi, wrecked car with no title. Perfect parts car. The main thing I needed was the igniton locks and door locks but I'm sure I can find other stuff out of it. ANYWAYS, it ran fine after jumping it off, I even have some pics of my dad doin doughnuts in our pasture in it and then I swapped the ignition tumblers. When I pulled the one out of the 98, I noticed that this gear, and spacer sorta deal came out with it. I assumed thats what was supposed to happen but when I pulled the 95's out, that extra metal piece and gear didnt come out. I looked in there and it was a bit different so I just slid the 98's tumbler in minus the gear/spacer thing and it cranked just fine. AWESOME! So then I went to put the 95's into the 98 and it just wouldn't slide in there. The spacer piece wouldn't fit quite right and so I could never seem to get it ALL the way in. So I started looking since I had the plastic off and realized I could take a screwdriver and wedge it in there and start it by grabbing what that little gear thing grabs. So I hooked the jumper cables up, and went at it and it turns over fine, but it won't start. I'm thinking the Theft system is kicking in or something but I'm at a lost. It's getting gas, it's turning over perfectly fine, but it's just not starting. Is there a way to bypass the theft system? I'm considering throwing a junk fender and bumper on the car and letting my dad drive the V6 this weekend at the AutoX but I'll need a way to start the damn thing.
And a pic of my dad being stupid and working the 4x4 suspension package of this POS before I swapped igntion tumblers.
