and she is alive! so I took her up to HPP yesterday morning around 11am and they got her right on the dyno. got her all strapped down and going on the rollers and Manny (HPP owner) noticed my temperature was idling at 210* on a 60* day. he told me "hey man, we got some issues, im not going to dyno this car at 210* with your setup. i have 1000hp TT cobras that temps idle at 160* all day."

so i thought that was the end of my day. so i asked what we needed to do and he told me he believed I needed a new thermostat and possibly a radiator. sooooo i was like WOW thats going to be another 500ish dollars. so my dad and I go in the office to talk some numbers and after my tune ($350, initial tune, all other tunes after this are $75 for unlimited pulls), aluminum radiator ($350), thermostat, fluids, labor, and little things, the total would be $1116.. i almost cried. then my dad said, okay lets do it haha. i didn't know what to say...

sooooooo they swapped radiators, thermostat, new fluid. that took about an hour but then i had a line infront of me for the dyno. so i waited from about 3 oclock to about 7:30 until my car got on the dyno. first run, IMRC's didnt open (IMRC's will be deleted next time I go, he said I have another 10-15hp in it alone with those being deleted), second run, it laid down 271 hp, 281tq. third run, 287hp and 287tq. finally, the fourth run laid down 289hp and 287tq.

sooooo im pretty happy. there are still a few small issues but I believe I can fix them. the car is SLAMMED, i adjusted the front coilovers but not quite enough. and also, when im coming to a stop and my RPMs are above 2k or so and press the clutch in, my car will die. so im thinking I have a vacuum leak somewhere or its a TPS sensor or something... not quite sure. I drove it 45 miles though last night without the hood on from their shop haha.. it feels awesome to have my car back though. I also have an exhaust leak which I think happened when I put the car on the trailer (header hit the bottom of the trailer).

WHOOOOOOOO!

PICS, VIDS, DYNO SHEET when I get up in the morning. you guys are going to LOVE the exhaust... ohhhhh weeee! I know its 5:50 and im awake but I just woke up for a few minutes lol and decided to update you guys. :headbang:

Re: Car is back!

Curious what is done to your car, my all stock GT ran 171/247

Your HP is up quite a bit but the torque hasnt risen that much

Regardless, good numbers

no worries. i finally put my new motor in, my tubular kmember, coilovers, clutch, longtubes, aluminum driveshaft and then i took it up to HPP Racing here in north dallas and got it tuned. my cooling system was messeed up though aparantly so they installed a aluminum radiator, 160* thermostat and then tuned it.

my numbers are right on for my mods I believe. a basically stock cobra with minimal bolt ons will put down 260-270hp and torque around the same numbers. my mods consist of a '99 teksid block that is fully forged with 9:1 compression, longtubes, offroad hpipe, 40series flowmasters, JLT CAI (for now), spec stage 3 clutch, billit aluminum flywheel, aluminum driveshaft, 3" aluminum radiator, 160* thermostat, and a solid dyno tune. thats really all I have done that would contribute to horsepower numbers. ill be putting my supercharger on in a few weeks and deleting my IMRC's (imrc's alone are holding me back a good 10-15hp). then a retune.

Re: Car is back!

DFG, i really dont know what the noise was but i guess it went away. possibly a stuck lifter? idk but its gone now apparently.

the power steering was making that horrid noise because.. there was no power steering fluid lol. we checked the fluid level but it was dark out. it looked like there was fluid in the reservoir which is why I thought it was the PS pump but i got to HPP and the dude was like, ummm you have no fluid in it. i was like wow i feel dumb.

right noww though, the car is back in the air because I cannot close my hood. the motor is too high in the bay and we believe its because of the solid motor mounts. they are about twice as tall as the stock motor mounts. so right now my dad is heading to orielly's to pick up a stock set of motor mounts.
