Re: CompOrangeSN95's Official build thread *UPDATE 10/16/10*

well I'm starting to make a list of parts for the 347 stroker build and hopefully I'll start ordering them soon. The GT40p heads and intake off of the motor I got are up for grabs, let me know if you are interested. as far as the 347 goes here is my parts list as of right now.

Still not sure what heads and cam to go with but I'm most likely going with AFR 185's for heads and get a custom grind cam from COMP cams. I'm open to suggestions. I'm hoping to make as close to 500hp as I can.

Re: CompOrangeSN95's Official build thread *UPDATE 1/5/11*

Don't forget about the little things! Pushrods, lifters, hardware, all the little things add up. If you get a bare block you're going to need water pump, timing chains, etc.

you're right about about that, I'm waiting to hear back from AFR before I pick out a cam, and once I got a cam picked out I can start pricing out more of that stuff. I need an oil pump, fuel pump, regulator, plugs, wires, timing chain set, oil pan, gaskets, studs.... the list goes on haha

Re: CompOrangeSN95's Official build thread *UPDATE 3/6/11* PICS!!!

Well I started the engine swap yesterday. Got the old engine out, all of the wiring out (wiring harness for sale) new engine is painted, all the components are swapped over. Tore out my dash and modified it. Ordering parts tonight and running fuel lines this week, mounting up the tranny and putting it back in. I'm real happy with the way my dash came out, I need to patch up some holes in the firewall and come up with a gauge cluster. ON TO THE PICTURES!!!

Thanks man! Idk what color I am going the valve covers yet. I still haven't found a set that I like haha I might just do them black so that match the powder coated parts but it's still up in the air.

Get a dimple die and use a hydraulic press to flare out the end?

I was thinking about that, but I'm not sure where to get a dimple die that big and this is the only time I would ever need it... not really worth buying

X2

They wont charge ya much and you could get them to flare all your slip points.

As posted in the other thread. I say get couplings like they use on diesel engines. I have heard them called slip couplings, couplings, clamps and slip clamps. and so on.

I'm either doing that or going to Les Dunham's shop... a buddy of mine is personal freinds with him and said he would probably do it for nothing. Most likely I'm going to a muffler shop.
