The hanger probably had nothing wrong with them and could have been reused. I have seen if they were left in cars that rotted away that they start to rust but on cars that are being ran they do not go bad often. The only thing it saved by replacing the entire thing is time. You could have got a fuel pump that was better than the stock pump for $2-300 and it would have taken 30 mins more to install the pump in the hanger. Next time your looking let us know and I would not be surprised if someone here had one NIB or at the very least we can help you find what is good/better/best for less.
