sumitomos = that says it all........ The only way to get your money out of them is to go burn them off and take all the pics you can to make the memories last. They not only have no traction but also have no longevity. A good set of rear tires will be your best investment for a faster time there is a reason whey they are soooo cheap.

Everyone has great advice..

Let me add that when you take off with those tires, if you can keep the spinning way down it will feel slower off the line. With you not spinning though it will result in a faster time..GL

Seat time always helps out alot. If you can before you change anything. Go to the track again and try some of these techniques to see if you can get better times..Practice makes perfect..

Yes you need some good control arms to help with wheel hop and spinning. And those Summitomo tires are never gonna hook up. You need to borrow those slicks, run about 15 lbs. of air in them and then you can leave at about 2500rpm's. Your 105 mph trap speed should be good for a 12.90 or better ET. (according to what your 60 foot gets down to)

You don't need to spend money, you need practice.

Even on Sumitomos, you should still be able to get a 2.1 with practice.

I have 1.90'd with 275/35/18 Kumho street tires in a 3700 lb car with 450 rwtq. It just takes a lot of practice. Go to the track, launch, run a couple hundred feet, then cruise the rest of the way. Rinse and repeat.

You wont break anything, i have friends leaving 5500rpm on 125 shots on stock axles all day long.

I have done it myself too. on 28x10.5s my best .60 was a 1.7 or so it just takes time/practice/correct shoes on the back

Lol trick flow kit can get you 290 hp easy to the wheels.

Ok if you use slicks DO NOT drop your clutch that is how you break. Go 2500 and ease the clutch out but it is all about practice.

Go 3000 if you still bog but don't drop the clutch unless you are in the box burning out.

Doesn't mean his wont break. If you do this there is a better chance of breaking. Just comensence.

Thats not true, if you use DR's dont drop the clutch.

Slicks with a wrinkle wall absorb a lot of the shock that would normally be transferred to the axles.

If you cant afford to fix it, you shouldnt be racing it anyway but I dont think it will break with a full slick.

You clearly have never ran a set of et street slicks buddy. Re read this thread there's a bunch of us who have ran over a 100 passes launching at 4000-5000rpms,but you claim he will break axles? Like Justin said the shock load from a drag radial is way to much the side wall has no give which = snapped axles. Unless you have a lot of drag experience don't bother making assumptions.

My car sits at 300rwhp, 296rwtq. and is a consistent 13.4@106mph. Manual convertible with 4:10's on 275/35/17 street tires. 3505lb race weight with me in it. Drive around the water box, give it a quick rev and pop the clutch, roll em over just a couple times to clean them off, no need for a big smokey burnout or anything. I leave the line at idle and normally cut a 2.1 60ft, have cut a few 2.0's. I have tried leaving at many different rpm's and everything just results in spinning and slower times, idle works good for me. Just pull up to the lights and pretend you're at a redlight in town and its a street race. You know if you try and launch from 3k on the street its going to spin. I myself have come across a set of MT's for this spring, we should see a 12sec pass this year.

As for the sumitomo's, a good friend of mine has a set of them on his 02gt with a procharger turning 375rwhp and can 2.1 60ft them. Its all in the technique.
