Automatics look plain in the Center Console. So, I had my brother who is an Upholster, to come up with a solution. I call it Da-Boot. Since his name is Dave. Oh, this is Bob, not Connie.DSC00174.JPG DSC00175.JPG DSC00176.JPG

What year did Ford move to the electronic odometer/gear indicator in the dash? I thought it was with new edge in 1999, but I know PinkieT doesn't own New Edges? My '96 as the analog odometer and gearshift position indicator adjacent to the shifter . . .

It's so funny, how many times people believed our Shifters were Manual. But, I tell them of course, they're Automatics. That intrigues them even more! Boots really do make our Auto Shifters look really sharp. I wish I could take sharper Pics though, like PinkieT's.

Yep, on my wife's 98 the shift indicator is covered up. Not a big deal to her. My Hurst knob doesn't have a shift pattern on it either. Also, she can't turn off overdrive since the button was on the old shift knob, but it would be easy to put a button someplace and connect the wire that went to it. Again, not a big deal as she doesn't tow or drive on hills, the two primary reasons to turn off overdrive.

Huh, have to think about that. I have been considering going to a B&M Hammer shifter. I really don't need it for the functional aspect of a ratchet shifter, just hate the look of the stock shifter. I think that looks real nice. Also didn't know that a generic shift knob could be retrofitted to the stock shifter either.
