Daily Driver Problem - Solved

well, i got that buick... and today, after driving it for a long period of time... it would shutter and stall when braking.
there is a tick coming from the top of the motor (sounds like it might be an injector) and the PS pump sounds like its whining pretty loud...
no other odd sounds.

anyways,
when braking, the car will shutter. its an automatic, and its done it before. It feels like im not pushing the clutch in (if it had one) while coming to a stop, thus dying on me.

i remedied the problem by downshifting while slowing down.
but this only worked 2 or three times and it ended up stalling out more often.

It got to the point where i would restart the car, and it would idle in park fine, but once i started shifting it into gear it would die immediately.

any ideas?

sounds like your transmission could be slipping.. Have you checked your fluid recently? (remember: while engine is running)

i checked the fluid, after limping it into a gas station. it was dark and snowy, but i checked it warm and running and i could tell there was at least fluid on the dipstick... I'll check that tomorrow morning.

any suggestions regarding the TQ converter? any testing i can do. ill try and track down the tick tomorrow morning as well.

well, figured it out... spent 45 minutes taking it apart and it was a 5 minute fix.

For future reference:
the sensor to the TQ converter wont like it drop out of OD. unplug the battery, unplug the sensor on the front of the transmission (no need to remove anything else,) and plug the battery back in and it is good to go. -.0

obviously i wont be using OD, so my milage will suffer, but my all-knowing-uncle (who told me this fix) said i wont notice a difference in performance or milage unless i go on a road trip ..
