Good job on those seats! It looks like you have to modify the floor pan too. I bet an 05 dash would slide right between the console and the steering wheel....but I know you like the sn95 one

My welder died last week.
Ordered a new 181i with mig and TIG. i'm excited to play with the Tig a bit.
We're building a new tank and want to Tig the exterior.

The stock 12 tank is rounded in the middle to clear the driveline, so there's a pickup and sending unit on both sides.
We figured out how to use both, and they will plug right in to the harness :)

Here's a few pics:

This is a nice fan assembly, will be controlled by the Coyote computer.

It has these flapped flow ports for extra air flow at high speeds to allow air to cool the engine bay. Spal recommends it and my motor guy says a lot of builders miss this little detail.

Radiator is here, (will have a remote fill/expansion tank)
I asked them to ship the mounting brackets loose so I can weld them on where I want, They forgot that part so I'm waiting on those.

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally got an answer on the driveline, looking like next week thursday....

I just spent the past three hours reading through this, what an awesome build! Fabrication is just insane and so many small cool detail things in this car!

On a side note have you had some time on the ESAB/Tweco welder? I had looked at that one (181i and actually a 141i also) at the local welding supply store and no one had a lot to say about it unfortunately. It looks like a more budget minded version of the ESAB Rebel from what I could see. Just curious how you like it?

Thanks guys.

Thanks Firefighter,
I was looking at the thermal arc verson like this one at my welding supply store, and found this one online for about half what they were asking.
Looking at the casing and specs, the Thermal, tweco and others are the same unit. I found a good deal that included the tig torch.
I've only tried out the Mig, got it dialed in yesterday and did a few test passes. it welds better than the buzz box I had before.

One thing that I think helps with the price is this model runs on 220 single phase only, not 110/220 like the more expensive versions of the same case.
I don't need to take it mobile for work, so the 220 plug suits me just fine.

Will give more feedback as I use it more.
