*rant*

Okay is it just me or does anyone else out there find themselves constantly bombarded with morons in vans that don't know how to drive? whether it's going way too slow or not signaling or driving in two lanes or in the wrong lane or not knowing how to park and just being incompetent in general...People in Minivans are terrible drivers and should be crushed along with their miserable vehicles! I know why people get road rage.

This morning, I had to drive maybe 5 minutes away, and I got plagued with TWO minivans within two intersections, the first was at a four way stop, when the other three directions were proceeding normally, the idiot (caravan) in front of me wouldn't move, his foot never came off the brake even when the other directions waved him through, eventually someone behind me got on his horn pretty good and finally he went though.

Next intersection, the culprit here was a kia sedona. There are two lanes, one turning lane, one going straight. Idiot in the van is 3/4 in the turning lane and 1/4 in the going straight lane, what does he do? he wants to go straight, but can't because the people squeezing by in the correct lane to go straight are blocking him, so what does he do? he starts honking his horn and flashing his lights for the duration of the green light, then when it turns red, he stomps on it and goes through the interestion as quick as his van will allow him :violent1: :violent1: :violent1:

Honestly, when I become king of the world, Van's will be banned!

:angry4: :angry4: :BangHead: :BangHead:

Take away minivans and those two guys will just find something else to drive.

Cars don't drive bad, people drive bad.

That leads me to a theory.

I think it's safe to say that you can't be a good doctor if you have no interest in the human body, so is it also safe to say you can't be a good driver if you have no interest in cars?

if so, then here's how it goes.

People that have no interest in cars are bad drivers.

people that have no interest in cars buy boring/bad cars

people in boring/bad cars (such as minivans!!) are bad drivers?

hmm??

That's how I go through life, definitely. I anticipate on other drivers based on the type of car... Normally works... (will he change lanes without looking? Well, he drives a Prius, so probably: yeah. Oh yes and there he goes!)

I like this theory and it definitely has some truth to it.

My sister got T-boned at a 4-way stop yesterday (only @ like 25 mph)...but guess who? Asian woman driving a Kia...it wasnt a mini-van, but it was an idiot driver in a stupid non-car enthusiast vehicle.

Damn. We were going to move to Canada if Sarah Palin ever got elected. Guess were not safe anywhere. Minivans have pretty much been redesign to confuse people like me. Other than the obvious oddessy and caravan, minivans/MPVs/crossover/SUV even several new CARS look like an SUV. At a light, or parking lot, it's like I'm the only car owner. A dodge caliber is NOT a car. A Toyota Matrix is NOT a car.

And you think 5 minutes of driving was bad. Imagine having that experience every single day, a mile or two of driving. I think they just need to test people for real. Like an actual human instructor. For my license all I had to do was get the majorty of an 11 question test right. Most of the questions were on hand signals.

Most states do have a human instructor and driving test...

Oh ok... I guess NOW I know why no one here knows how to drive... Originally I thought they were exiled here from other states. Now figuring since driving is a RIGHT not a privilege, after not being allowed to drive in their homeland, they moved down here to enjoy such luxuries. Who cares if they hit anyone. It's a lease. They plan on getting a new car whether it gets scratched or not.

We have a pretty crazy way to get your license here.

first you do a 25 question written test, if you get at least 20/25, you get your G1 license, which lets you drive with a licensed driver in the front passenger seat only.

12 months after you get your G1 (or 8 months if you attended driving school) you can get your G2, which consists of a 30 minute road tests that involves driving around, parallel parking, lane changes, 3 point turns, stopping on a hill etc. This allows you to drive by yourself with 1 passenger between the hours of 6 am and 1am.

12 months after you get your G2 you can get your G, which is a full license, which consists of a 30-40 minute driving test involving everything in the G2 test as well as some highway driving. The Full G license has no restrictions and gives a 15% insurance break.

Yet, there are still idiotic drivers??? how???

I never had to take a test with an instructor.. written only. My mom signed that I knew how to drive and that was it. I guess I really don't get annoyed by bad drivers though, just try to do my best to predict what people are going to do before it happens.

Probably the same reason we dont even bother testing our drivers... ...they'll still drive. Think about it. You have to have a license to drive... ...yet people still drive without one. You have to have liability insurance to drive... ...yet people still drive without it. You have to have your car inspected and registered to drive it, and people still dont and still drive. But you know, just like drinking in driving, youre not supposed to, yet does it stop them? Its a risk theyre willing to take. Logically one would think theyd drive safer so they wouldnt get caught, but no. :BangHead:

My guess is, in Ontario it stops a bunch. Sure youve got people who wiggled through the system, or just flat out dont care what the system says. But they keep passing more laws and restrictions in hopes that less and less of these people wont be on the road... ...sadly these laws and restrictions many times hurt the good drivers... ...such examples are recently passed traffic laws. Laws where they lower the speed limit, or prevent you from making left turns or going straight, laws where you have to slow to a crawl if you see a cop pulled over with their lights on... ...these laws were passed because people were killed... ...by MORONS, if these laws were in place today, would they still be alive? NO. Why? well, they broken 3-8 laws in the process, so why on earth would they decide to obey another law thrown at them?

That doesnt work. They were put on this earth for the sole purpose to annoy you. Havent you ever seen the traffic scene in The Truman Show? Thats my life!

Heres my day:

leave from stops no more than 2000 RPMs.
Fight my way through traffic to get in front.
Drive 5 over w/ cruise control on.
Look at all the retards in my rear view mirror.
Continue to drive 5 over with cruise control
Watch retards blow my doors off at 10-20mph
Catch up to retards at light.
Watch semi truck pass retards.
Change lanes into semi truck lane and pass them again
Start and continue to drive 5 over.
Look at retards in rearview mirror
Have retards wake up, cross intersection and blow my doors off again at 10-20 over
Speed limit raises 10mph faster
Watch idiots slow down 10-20 under whatever speed they were driving
Fight my way AGAIN to get in front.

I dont mind idiots driving slow. I dont mind idiots driving fast, But For Gods sake PICK ONE!!! I dont mind letting you pass, but dont immediately force me to drive 10 under when I do!

BTW, you reminded me of this one route I used to take. It once was 60 mph. Even though 60-70 is a BLAST, it was the only road I would drive 5 under on purpose. Again cruise control, I always drove this slow because I knew I would catch up to someone, and I always did. I dont understand why anyone would drive so slow on that road. Its dangerous! There is limited sight, it wouldnt be hard to rear end someone! But they do it anyway. Once I saw one lady driving TWENTY in a 60. Sadly she was constantly braking and couldnt stay in her lane. I was able to watch her repeatily bend over to the passenger seat. She was picking up magazines!!! and when she found the one she wanted, she started reading it!!! 60mph windy curvy road!!! It pissed me off because 1) she was making me drive so slow 2) I was in danger of being rear ended by someone else 3) I couldnt legally pass (double yellow line) 4) I could safely pass (limited site and she kept drifting into that lane.) I watch the speed limit on that road go from 60 to 55 to 55, and even 45 and 40 in some areas... ...is it any safer? HELL NO!!! GET THESE PEOPLE OFF THE ROAD!!!

I love missouris driving test, pass a computer test, drive on a permit with a licenced driver for 6 months, turn 16 you take a driving test which is super easy. Then technically youre only suppose to have 1 passenger and be in before 1am but ive never ever seen it enforced with anyone. Then 18 you can do whatever.

I literally took my driving test through my neighborhood in the stang, lady was like why does it sound funny, is it going to die? It smells like gas. (off road h pipe and a cam with no tune lol).

When I was a kid at 15 you had to have a TEA form (proof that you're enrolled in high school) and then a form that stated that youre taking drivers ed. After taken a short written exam you got a permit but you could only drive with a licensed adult. Now then, if you were awesome you could get a hardship license and drive for work/school by yourself.

At 16 you had to have the same TEA form, and a form stated that you passed drivers ed. Of course our instructor had us fill out our own form with a passing grade on the very first day. Our books were from the 60s even though the school was built in the 80s and this was 1997. You then too the same exact written test as last time. And like before had to get more than 50% right.

Of course now it's the 21st century and the idiots on the road now have children of their own driving. So we've given then bizarre rules like, you can only have one under age passenger for the first couple of months. You are not allowed to text or talk on your cell phone till a couple of months. And so on. Like after 6 months of driving you're either experienced enough to handle those distrations or mature enough to not need a law

The main problem in Holland -to me anyway- are people that feel the need to play police-officer. They have some minivan or Prius or whatever and they will be driving a little under the speed limit on the left lane.

They will not move over because 1) they're asleep 2) "i can't go faster so you can't go faster either" or 3) "you're not allowed to go faster so I'm preventing you".

You have the option: 1) stay behind this slow-ass driver and go mad or 2) pass on the rightside, which is prohibited by law here. Risk also with passing on the right: the slow guy will notice and suddenly speed up, pinning you behind a truck, and you have to wait for the entire line of cars to pass you by before you can go to the left lane again.

Seriously I would go completely mad if I had to drive the Mustang every day. I would seriously start hitting people on day 3.

I seriously hate those "I can't so you can't either" people. It's mostly jealousy.

OOOOOOO this!!!! This drives me up an absolute wall...Become like Samir in Office space..

I love it when on 2 lane higways or whatnot(happens on 3 lane too).. the people in the left lane "Need to go faster" but their rear fender lines up with the right lane's car front fender and they both stay at the same speed..

Then I get it when im cruising by everyone in the left lane.. (Called the passing lane and im friggin passing everyone on the road.. sue me lol) and Im about to pass 2 more cars in the middle lane, one closely behind the other.
Now at this point the car thats in 2nd, checks his mirrors, and can see a car approaching at consideral speed, specially compared to their -mph or exact speed limit rate. YEt when I am ohh say 10 yards behind them, about to pass.. a***ole behind first car decides to make his pass... NOW! Now normally I wouldnt care.. But his passing rate of speed becomes the EXACT f*cking speed he was going so I have to hit my friggin breaks and become a snail as I wait 5 miles for him to pass the guy in the left lane. Which by now we have cought up to other traffic, and is now impossible to pass.

I swear there are more and more itiots on the road as I get calmer driving and drive less like a deuche(as i get older).
I have a road near my house, 2 lanes(1 each way).. 50mph.. Weather could be perfect for a nice run.. And i get people that go 30mph the entire fuggin way(2 mile long road more or less), and I know they drive that SH*T every day!(this is my route to my job so it gets to me lol)

I also try and predict peoples movements based on their cars.. Not always right... But am never surprised when I see it happen

I will admit, I sometimes do this on certain roads (not highways) it's only for about five seconds and follows my day quoted below...

Continued...
Look at retards in rearview mirror
Notice that the speed limit is about to raise 10mph
Continue driving 5 over
Watch idiots tailgate and drift into the other lane about to pass
Go 10-15 over for a few feet until the speed limit raises.

You see, since I know where all the speed limits signs are I don't begin to speed up until after I pass them... It's the law. You can't go 55-60 in a residential area. If you could, they'd just raise the limit. Anyway the blocking is because on some days I allow them to pass me because I choose to wait for the sign. But because I didn't want to go 15 over, now I must go 10-5 under. If I go 5 over that's 50 in a 45. If they pass me 10 over that's 55 in a 45. I'm in a bright red convertible so I'm not going to do that. Anyway, this means that after the speed limit raises, they're still going 55. This is what's posted only 1) Now I can't go 5 over and 2) since they don't used cruise control, their speed fluctuates and many times I'm going 5 under, which was how fast I was going when they felt the need to pass me. 3) I can no longer see road hazards so when they swerve to avoid a stop car or flooded lane SURPRISE!

Ok, so now I have to fight my way again to get in front. Eventually it gets to the point where they have to go 65 to past me... And do. Then the whole thing repeats itself. I honestly think that's why the city timed their lights forcing you to stop at each one. It's their way to control speeders. If only they would control the red light runners. BTW I once reported a trouble area (they have a website form) where no less than 3 cars were crossing when our light was green. Since they get a red 4 seconds before we get a green. That's 5-7 cars!!! Cop talks to the traffic dept and rather than punish them, they REWARD them!!! They decided to extend the light in their favor so more cars could get by... ...except now when it does finally turn red, they still run it.
