Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a good all around safety helmet. Specifically covering Auto-X, Drag, possibly Road racing, etc...

I know safety isn't something to skimp on but I can always upgrade when I mod more. Just looking for decently priced suggestions. I would prefer a full face helmet also, but would be willing to go with another style.

Thanks all!

I just shop at the local motorcycle store, always something on sale. Just make sure it has the correct SNELL rating.

Not entirely sure about auto x or motorsports but check out HJC they are snell and DOT approved. I have worn there off road styles for years and they are reasonably priced.

Motorcycle shops tend to have Mxx helmets where actual road racing requires SAxx (xx being the year). Difference being the SA have additional fire ratings the M does not. Now, a M rating is fine for 90% of stuff, but if you get into actual racing, you will need an SA. Not sure of other clubs than NASA, but I would imagine it is the same.

Check out SafeRacer.com for some deals. They have a lot of clearance stuff and also sponsor Spec Miata, you can find a 10% off code on the Miata race sites.

I bought an HJC from a motorcycle shop that is SNELL certified and what not (met all requirements of the NHRA track here). Used it once, than all the tracks in the state decided to close down. FAWKING A what a waste of money. end rant/

Yea, that one is just fine. You want a full face, and make sure the fit is good. Snug, not too tight or too loose. Take a string and measure around the top of your head (around the forehead), and measure the string. That will be the helmet size. But, just like shoes, some manufacturers run small, some run a little large. Just try and measure the largest part of your head and give yourself plenty of time before the event just incase the helmet does not fit.
