That sucks bro. I have normal hood pins AND a latch for this very reason.

The last time I saw a hood come off, it was at about 90mph, and it was a Eagle Talon. Metal hood too, beat the hell outta the car before it came off. I think it hit the windshield 3 times before completely ripping off the hinges.
It's an unfinished fiberglass lift off hood so there wasn't anyway to latch it down with the normal latch. Learn from mistakes that if I ever buy another hood it won't be a complete lift off.

Yeah it was rtv'd on once or twice before. Doesn't work so it'll probably be rtv'd once more

Shit dude you got real lucky then. The fact that you don't have a cowl could have fucked it up even more, hitting the roof and messing with that and the windshield, got real lucky on that one! But update, I'm getting it removed and a new one installed for 180 at my house so I think it's a pretty snazzy deal.

call your insurance. my insurance gives 3 "glass options" a year where the deductable is $100.00 even and they cover the rest. No rate change, nothing on the record. ... nothing... just a new windsheild for $100.00 + 2 phonecalls....

no, we only have liability. lowest amount of coverage we could get... fire, theft, acts of God, other drivers, all are not covered...

Welcome to my life. Liability doesn't come with free windshield replacement. paying out of pocket is how i DO! :)

Man, you're making me feel lucky for having fire and theft on it! I guess going to school in Detroit might have something to do with it.

you don't have glass coverage through your insurance? It's so cheap and worth it dude, a lot of times there's not even a deductible.

Hood pins.
Had them, switched them for locks because I have school everyday in Detroit and frequently stay on campus. Just gotta remember to lock them....
