As the title states, decided not to think after I cleaned out my engine bay and it wouldn't start. :BangHead: Had the bright idea to pop the clutch....didn't work so left it to dry over night. Well somewhere in that string of bright ideas I forgot to or didn't completely lock down my hood.. well here's what happens when a hood is left unlatched and driven at 45mph :violent1:

Thanks guys, yeah luckily I wasn't on the expressway or anything or else it could have been a lot worse (or been a metal hood!) damage cost will probably end up being a new windshield, hinges and eventually paint job on the hood. It didn't come off the rear hinges so there's stress cracks all over it. Definitely gonna remember to check those from now on =\

Luckily it wasn't the stock hood, those are much heavier and could have done a lot more damage than what did, hope that your okay.

your lucky it didn't smash in the roof like they usually do
Yeah thankfully for that I have a fiberglass hood and was only going 45! My buddy's lifted on his fox with the stock hood, f'd up the entire roof, still isn't totally right to this day.

Yeah that's what I figured. I'm considering taking it somewhere to have them replace it so I won't have to worry about it. So far I've gotten $180, so we'll see what tomorrow brings with prices....

What would you think the average goes for? Aren't windshields that expensive to begin with?

time for a more subtle hood. windshields are around $200 installed around here with new weatherstripping

I think I paid 280 to have it done on my probe. That was including the windsheild and new stripping too. I don't know if everyone qoutes that way or not.

damn, so 180 to have them come to my house and install it wouldn't be bad at all

That sucks bro. I have normal hood pins AND a latch for this very reason.

The last time I saw a hood come off, it was at about 90mph, and it was a Eagle Talon. Metal hood too, beat the hell outta the car before it came off. I think it hit the windshield 3 times before completely ripping off the hinges.
