im looking into getting the DSS 331 super pro bullet shortblock in february. they say it is good for 650hp. it still uses a factory 5.0 block, and they say with theyre support system that it will support 650hp. ive seen the horror of a high hp 302 and the split down the center, but they swear by theres. what are your guys thoughts on this shortblock?

I wanna test it because I dont think it will hold. If you are wanting that much power get a dart block it only about 1500 more but good for as much as you can throw at it.

I think it's a stock block that will break like any other stock block. And girdles only hold the broken parts together.

will they warranty it if you split it?
read the racing and abuse clause

that's stupid. I understand a manufacturer not warrantying due to racing and abuse, but that is because they do not build it to be a race car - if you build a high performance motor for the purpose of racing and abusing it and you say it will hold XXX power, you should warranty it for that.

It's all in the tune and how you drive it! The aftermarket 4-bolt blocks are going to add at least 90lb to your weight.

What did you dyno? Is there a reason your want another motor? I guy a hang with has blew up 2 in less than 2 years. Alot of people are getting around 550 at the wheels with a stock block as long as you keep the rpm's down.

the shop that assembled my shortblock supposedly put in hellfire rings but they arent sealing under boost after 3800 rpm 4-5lbs at that rpm. im runnin an 8lb pulley, well was, the belt is off until i get the new motor. but i did put down 299hp and 363ftlb @3750rpm, all the boost went right by the rings after that.
