Ok heres my problem. i just bought a D.S.S 331 stroker and im wondering once I put the thing in should I get it dyno tuned or can I do it my self till I boost it then ill get a dyno tune. heres the specs on it.

Level 10 CNC Block
Forged I Beam Rods
ARP Bolts Throughout
Forged Pro-X(Light Weight) Pistons #4110 -13cc 8.5 to 1 with 60cc heads
DSS Low Profile 7qt pan
DSS Billet Aluminum Main Support
SFI 28oz Romac Balancer
SFI 28ox PRW Flywheel
Melling High Volume Oil Pump
ARP Oil Pump Driveshaft
Edelbrock Timing Chain
Trickflow Stage 1 Cam
Will be getting some Trickflow or AFR heads..rockers???1.7 or 1.6???
Cobra upper and lower intake.
24# or 30# Injectors
Full exhaust from headers out.

Now does this combo sound like it needs a dyno tune or can I do it with an SCT tuner myself. I know 94 95 computers are a pain to deal with and I have no idea what to get to do it myself. Im looking to be getting about 350 to the tires N/A till I get some boost. Any help and advice would be great. Also does anyone know of a good place to get a dyno tune around the Atlanta area for a 5.0 and about how much it will run. I wish MPH did work on 5.0's but I heard they didnt. Oh well

well if you want to squeeze the most out of it you should get a tune. also I think that the afr 165s will be better and allow some room to grow in the future. That combo will probally put safely around 315-320 to the wheels.

with all the money you got into this setup you'd be better off going with a custom cam. To help squeeze out all the power out of it you can.

im really not looking to be getting a custom cam right now...if i do that it will be when I get boost into the motor. No need to get a custum cam just to have to get another one when a turbo goes on. For now I will just use my trickflow stage one for streetability and emmisions reasons. I dont need to squeze every ounch out of the motor just want a good solid running motor thats over 300 to the wheels and I think with my combo i will get there...315-320 to the wheels? I may also try and get a polished pro products typhoon intake since they are nice and the exact same as an edelbrock?

I'd get a tune asap so you dont have any chance of washing down the new rings.

If you have an SCT racer package and know how to use it you should be able to make it safe to drive for the time being.

How long will it be before the turbo goes on? And are you going to want to tear it compleately down just to put a cam in it? I think you should put the cam you're gonna run in while its all out of the car. But to each his own.....

If you have the clearances...forget the AFR 165's.

I would do the 185's and not look back. On a 331, the 185's are going to work A LOT better then the 165's.

If the 185's are NOT the option, ten I would do the TFS Twisted Wedge Heads.

Twisted Wedge heads are in between the 165's and 185's...

165's are not designed for anything larger then a 302/306/308.

well I guess ill be going to get it dyno tuned....now I just need to find a good place in Atlanta that I trust to do it..to bad MPH only messes with Modular motors. Also anybody know about the trickflow 255lph pumps? Are they any good or should I just go with the normal 255 Walbro?

agreed.

and i'd definately get a tune. they are only around $300-400 for multiple runs on the dyno and it would make a world of difference.

So even with our crappy computers in our cars with a dyno tune that doesnt matter they will fix all the bad things that our computers do? or do I still need to get something else.
