Pulling the engine would also provide for a nice clutter-free engine bay.

Well he like most people who give advice give that said advice based on experience. I said it before, people want all the info they can get so long as its what they want to hear sometimes. With our platforms its hit and miss anyone whos done anything to their car knows this. Any input should be welcomed as we are a small group of people. my .02

There is exactly zero reason why two cars, with identical computers, identical wiring, and identical engines would behave completely differently when you unhook the EGR. I'm pretty sure Ford didn't haphazardly decide to make the EGR function work on some cars, but not others.

Bottom line:

Is there any good reason to remove it? No.

Do you gain horsepowers from it? No.

Does it cost money to try to defeat it? Yes.

Is there significant potential downside to removing it? Yes.

The end.

reason for removing it is cleans up engine bay. some people like it to look nicer. no you don't gain any horsepower. cost money to remove it, little to none . anybody can make a plate to cover the hole with some piece of steel and a little time. haven't had or expierenced any potential downside to removing it. sorry. not trying to be an ass just telling ya my expierence and those of some people i know.

Ive gotten nothing but problems in all reality since ive removed it, so im dishing out the 50 or so bucks for a new tube. You wont gain anything other than eye candy.

A voice of reason.

Spending money for no appreciable benefit, while very likely making the car run worse is f'ing stupid.

I am actaully trying to find a way to reinstall mine!!

One small device with a tube attached to it isn't much cleanup, but to each their own.

cost money to remove it, little to none. anybody can make a plate to cover the hole with some piece of steel and a little time.

Then money to buy the EGR defeating plug-in thing. Then getting annoyed when you find out it doesn't work. Then more money to get a tune to shut off your EGR and make the car run right again. Then more money for the fuel mileage you threw out the window because you wanted to remove something for no appreciable benefit.

Awesome.

i never spent any money to buy the egr defeating plug in thing. i don't care about a check engine light. if i don't want to see it i will take the bulb out. it doesn't always come on. as for a tune, wtf for. car runs the same and gets 22mpg on highway and 18 city with 3.73 gears. now tell me what they are suppose to get from the factory paul. pretty sure didn't throw any money away with fuel mileage. besides its a mustang, if i wanted good fuel mileage i would buy a ricer.

That's great that you're cool with a CEL. I'm not.

While fuel mileage certainly isn't the chief concern of someone driving a 5.0L, it is stupid to throw it out the window unnecessarily.
