I was thinking of installing cutouts for my exhaust considering i live in CAlifornia. Only concern is where i would put them? Would I lose HP/TQ? I read if you install them after the H/X pipe you wont lose HP/TQ but if you install them before the H/X pipe you will lose HP/TQ. Is this true?

Dont do it. it will hurt your performance. Modular engines are tuned to run with the back pressure from the mufflers. cut outs are just not worth the trouble.

Only if you plan on doing it for fun, like carshows and meets and stuff.. you will have no power gains out of it..

i have a set of qtp electronics sitting in a box that will go on my car pretty soon

I have been wanting to add electronic cut outs to my side exhaust for a while now. Just from the end of the x pipe to the tips so that it would still come out of the same tip but bypass the muffler.

I dont think it sounds good. So I never looked in to it but either way you will need to run a little extra tubing to get the heat out from under the car and away from brake lines/electrical and fuel supply/return

I have been kicking around the idea of electronic cut-outs for my side exhaust. I think I could put them right infront of the muffler going out through the same tip, just bypassing the muffler.
