Forget Fox valve covers, what fits under '94-95 stamped steel?

I read the sticky Fox valve cover thread and saw this post:

i have stock stamped steal valve covers on my car, with trickflow heads, and 1.6 comp magnum rockers, tight fit but they went on and no problems

In my particular car, Fox valve covers won't work (long story, don't ask, all will be revealed in time) so I need to know exactly what will fit under our valve covers.

I know Cobra pedestal mount 1.7-1 aluminum roller rockers will work but only on pedestal mount heads (I think).

I need a head that flows like crazy and at least maintains the outward appearance of smog legality. Beside the AFR 185s, I don't know of any head with pedestal mounts that fits that bill and the 185s lose a bit of their lustre when compared to the still smog legal but stud mount rocker 195s.

Lastly, I have mocked up and can fit TFS twisted wedge heads with the stamped steel valve covers but didn't have any roller rockers to mock up. Does anyone know if TFS raised the valve cover mounting surface?

Cylinder head manufacturers do a lousy job of telling you how their heads fit, a couple of simple dimensions would tell everyone what they need to know and roller rocker manufacturers could answer a lot of questions too.

what intake are you trying to get this under? are you concerned about hood clearance if you went with a spacer? i had edelbrock performers w/ cobra 1.7's under stock valve covers.

Thanks for the data point but I think the AFR 185s would flow more than Performers.

without question they do, hence the reason i upgraded to them. i would say most pedestal mount rockers/heads will be able to fit under stock covers. i did have to ball peen hammer mine just a tad on ends but it wasn't noticeable.
