Alright so yesterday we decided to have a little car day at my house. I installed a Steeda radiator support in a friends car, and then he helped me finish up this project the previous owner had started.
He put a strip of bright white LED's (marine grade, prototype LED's for the boats I build) under the hood, in a groove so they are almost totally unnoticeable when not lit. He just never finished the project. He installed them and ran wires near the battery, and just left them there. So, we went and bought a switch, some wire, and went about taking care of it. I wanted the switch somewhere totally hidden. I had thought about something under the hood, perhaps even a pressure switch so when the hood is up, the lights are on, but decided a manual switch was probably the best route.
Anyhow, no pics of the actual install process, but just the switch, it's location and the lights.
This will really come in handy if I'm out showing someone something at night, or in the future, working on it, or at a car show/meet at night.
Also pictured is the Roush intake I got for free, basically nothing but an air filter but who cares ha.
The open glove box
Switch in the "off" position
Switch in the "on" position (indicated by the little LED)
The motor lit (with no flash on the camera)
The light strip
From a few feet back so you can see, while they are bright, they are still hidden.
I don't know why this isn't something done from the factory, it's awesome.
Thanks for looking!
