gas pedal - accelerator cable

im far from a mechanic but i figured id just voice what was going on lol... is it normal for the gas pedal to be loose?-- as i can push it down and pull up on it as well? and how tight are the accelerator cables suppose to be? ive noticed lack of some power so i figured id just ask. any insight would be appreciated thanks

They can get stretched over time. You can put a plastic spacer at the top of your pedal to take some slack out of it.

Check the spring on the throttle body. Make sure that the spring is not broken or missing.
