I'm going to start looking for a GT40 Explorer upper/lower intake. Are there any particular part numbers that I should be looking for? Does it have to come from a 94-95 to fit a 95 GT? Is there anything else I should know before I make a deal? Any information/suggestions would be appreciated.

They didn't start putting them onto explorers until 96 actually. There are first and second gen explorer intakes. The fox guys running EGR need to get the first gen unit but for us it doesn't matter. Any explorer intake from a 5.0 explorer or mountaineer will work on our cars just fine. Get the explorer throttle body too if you can, its relatively easy to mod to work with our cars and its 65mm.

yah, i just picked one up and read about the throttle body afterwards. :wall:

also, you'll have to get an elbow for the 94-95

In my search, I've seen a couple on Ebay. They were listed as GT-40P intakes. Are there multiple versions? Is one better than another? Will they both work on a 95?

gt40p usually refers to the heads of the 97-99 explorers. The intake was not really changed, as the article says above and they will both work.
