I have a feeling it's probably a really bad idea, but here's what I'm wondering.

160k miles
stock 94 5.0 bottom end
Want a kenne bell
Aiming for 400 RWHP

When added together does this equal boom?

yay or ney?

I'm also considering a forged 347 shortblock good for 800 HP, but thats an extra $2500 minimum.

The engine feels strong, and currently has no issues. No burning oil, etc.

won't hurt a thing, when you do it go ahead and replace all the gaskets on the engine because boost will push shit all out around the old worn out ones.

You'll be fine.. We boosted a few over 200k and lasted a few years till we cranked it up to 16+ psi the most made on stock bottom end was 618 rwhp in my buddy fox with 219 on the clock, ran 2 years and to 264k before the rings went.. So as long as its not smoking and has good compression, does good on a leak down test, your good..

Now 618 was just for a glorified single dyno run in 18 psi on a master power t70.. After that we kept it conservative at 506 or so rwhp and 11-12 psi..

Do you compression check first. If everything checks out then your good to boost it. You can throw on a vortech S Trim for cheaper then a KB and the KB do seem to be aimed more for the mod motors.

i had a 178k miles on my foxbody and pieced together a turbo setup just too see what it would take before she went.........drove the car on 9lbs for 2 years and never had a problem......actually only pulled the motor cause i wanted a 351w so i say GO FOR IT!

Boost it.. Skip the kb

Centrifical or turbo kb is cool on mod motors were they can intercooled...

Exactly, some people dont seem to understand this.
and buy a KB for their pushrod engine because the whine of the KB "sounds cool" lol

Op as Venom stated, do a compression test and go from there.

any car without a built bottom end IMO is a ticking time bomb

Im building a fully forged monster but in the mean time if i put it on everything would me done minus the motor swap.. ac relocated guages and wires ran belt ran etc.. But have a feeling its a bad idea
