high rpms?

wheres a good place to start with high revs out of a 5.0? i have a 327 s10 and im pretty new to mustangs. i had in mine a bbk intake( got it free from a friend), comp cam, lifters, roller rockers, hd piston, hd crank, and heads.

if your going to rev it that high and expect it to live it prolly wouldn't be a bad idea to start with a new rotating assembly and move to the valve train from there, to just rev one that high it wouldn't be to hard but this is just assuming you want it to live...

Besides from all the rotating assembly and valvetrain upgrades that you will most definitely need, you will need a cam that has a usable power band all the way up to that rev limiter, you will definitely need to tune it so you don't run dangerously lean which causes shit to break. Our cars weren't really built for high rev driving, they were made for low end torque for the street. Don't forget about everything else behind the motor that would be under strain while you are bouncing off the rev limiter, like the clutch and gears in the tranny. But that's just the way I look at it. Good Luck

well mainly im building a pro touring car and you need high revs for a road course in my opinion. my 327 s10 turn 7400 but it only needed lifters cam and valvetrain. so i guess pretty much close to right then. what about the bbk intake is it anygood? my friend letting me have the one off his 5.0 since hes getting a keith craft 408 with ingless webbers

I get the idea that you need to do more research. Turn high rpm and making power are 2 seperate things. Don't get them confused.

Just FYI, the GT1 Corvettes that race in LeMans only run 6500 rpm.


High RPM motors are peaky, and expensive. I know. I have one.

...and +1 on the doing more research thing.
