I was "moving" on the way home from go-carting tonight. At some point, my scoop decided it no longer wanted to stay on the car. The inner frame ripped out of the scoop. Some of the frame is on my hood still. It's damaged, but the rest of the car looks ok. It seems like it just barely nicked my wing.

I have a hood scoop I bought in New York I was planning on re-selling, but looks like it will just have to be re-painted now, and put on my car haha.

Pics tomorrow.

lmao, just the scoop, funny thing is I didn't notice it. My buddy's like "soo, you just gonna leave the scoop back there?" I was like "Holy crap it did fly off!"

It just lifted straight up, it was hilarious. Funny, but upsetting all at the same time.

ROFL I had the same thing happen but mine never completely came loose. Just one corner busted free. I went and bought some 2 part epoxy and glued the tab back on and reinforced the others. I also added two extra bolts to mine. One on the front in the middle and one on the back in the middle. Havent had a problem since.

reminds me of when I had my mirrors painted. a week later the glass fell out while I was driving....

I am afraid to say that with this news I will have to pull my vote for ROTM and demand a recount :)

sorry to hear man :(
especially after all the hard work you put into this thing.
time for a cowl? :)

Ha nah, I can't afford a new hood and then getting it painted. My paint is still flawless, so I just need to put a new scoop to fill all the holes. But I already have one I bought to re-sell, so now I'll just have to use it haha.

Well I guess that's the 4.3 for you. Upgrade 4.2 to 4.3, screw the scoop!

I has a 4.3 lol, wtf. And I love the scoop!

Sad thing is I had epoxied all around the inside of this thing. It came off a wrecked Bullitt, and apparently they are a little different than regular GT scoops ha. So now I'm back to a regular scoop but O well =/

Damn that sucks lol but had to have been funny. I would loctite the bolts when you put the new one on

The bolts are all in the hood still lol.

I'll have to figure something out, because they bump up on my intake if I have the center ones on.

crap like that would get me mad enough to literally jump up and down(stomping on the down as hard as I can) while cursing in 4 languages(1 completely made up and 2 butchered badly). If I had my gun on my I would shoot it down into the ground like yosemite sam till I was 3 ft off the ground, probably sound like him too....

yeah this wouldn't of happened if it was just painted. sucks but at least you have a spare and don't have to searching for one.

better the scoop than the whole hood...now its time for an autozone scoop to cover the hole...now that would be cool !

That sucks. From what I've read this problem is more common than you'd think, the scoop really isn't on there that securely as Ford set it up. Hence why I think the V6 hood looks better.

Haha, I was laughing. I'm upset, but the whole thing was pretty funny

Too bad the spare won't be here till April haha. I called my painter this morning, he has a wrecked Mustang in his yard he's putting cowl on, and there's a scoop on there. When he calls me back I'll see if we can work a deal on getting that one,

On my way to the store now!

Too fast for the hood scoop :)

About 125 or so ;p

Wonder how bad it would be to run a little bead of epoxy around the inside after it's bolted down. Realistically, when do you ever need to pull the scoop off?
