I ordered a AFR, vacume and a oil/water temp gauges today and was hoping others had pics of how they connected theirs? Not sure where I would put the sensors for the oil/water temp seems like the biggest question...

The water temp usually comes with a sensor, the sensor itself is really small and you'll need an NPT adapter that you can usually pick up at home depot (forgot size, sorry). Sensor goes into fitting, fitting goes where the old temp sending unit is which is on the front drivers side of the lower intake. For the oil sensor you're going to need a "T" adapter that's going to run off the oil pressure sensor on the side of the engine (front driver's side). Paul has the sticky at the top of the page but the pics are long gone

OR just remove stock sending unit bc its useless and run your car w/o the stock one and only aftermarket. ten you only need a fitting which you can get from orielly's.

hey fellas my gauge modules came in today and I have already started fabbing my own a pillar pod as I just do not like the style of the ones out now. Can we work on this again?

certainly.
AFR- Is your car tuned yet? If not, have them shut off an o2 sensor and put your wideband sensor into your old o2 bung. If it is already, have a buddy or exhaust shop weld a bung in for you. I've heard that the bung has to be on the upper half of your exhaust pipe, closest to the collector of the header.

vacuum- Just put a T fitting in an existing vacuum line and run the other line to your gauge.

oil (pressure?)- If your gauge is oil pressure, then unplug your existing oil pressure sensor (it's directly below the oil filter) and then from here it depends on if your gauges are electrical or mechanical.

water temp-you more than likely have to buy an adapter fitting that fits in your lower intake manifold that will sandwich the temp probe between the autometer fitting and the adapter fitting (again if this is mechanical)

car was supposed to get slapped on the dyno today for tuning but I had to cancel as my usual health issues came up and I am back in the hospital. disconnect the factory o2? That wont lead to problems? It comes with a bung and the sensor so I had planned on having it welded in but if that is easier or better I would consider it.

all the sensors are electrical with this gauge package.

the temperature has to sensors that I was going to use for water and oil. would that change the location of the oil sensor? I plan on adding pressure to so probably not. I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about water temp... sandwiched? Sorry I am great with wiring and always learning under the hood.

haha no worries. i figured it would be kinda confusing without pictures or diagrams (i'm a visual learner)
sucks to hear about the health issues again =\ i'm always pulling for ya!

As far as the o2 goes, apparently not. I'm not positive how or why it works but when my tuner did the tune on my car, he shut off the o2 sensors and just put my wideband sensor in the existing o2 bung. maybe just ask your tuner about what he thinks is best.

Are the temp sensors going to the same gauge or do you have 2 different gauges too? I have no idea where to plug the oil temp in at, but with the water temp hopefully this will help you.

this is what the probe looks like for the mechanical water gaue, i'm sure its probably comprable to the electrical but a sensor. the fitting in the picture above does not fit in any of the spare holes on the lower intake mani. So you have to get another fitting like the following: to install first in the lower, then hook the temp gauge up into the adapter fitting:

Leave your stock o2s in place and have the new bung welded on your h pipe . If im not mistaken 16- 18 inches from the collector. Might want to check the recommendation of the wideband you purchased. Water temp can go in the stock location or t-stat housing.

the temp module has two sensors and can monitor both water and oil at the same time. any reason I need to tap into the lower intake for the temp? I had considered trying to tap a hole in the flange that holds the thermostat on top out of eas of install.

I can't see the pics now but the hospital has alot of crap locked out now so its probably me, everyone else sees them right?

Yea my health just sucks plain and simple. I really hated to cancel that appt as I had been lookin forward to it for almost 2 weeks.

Gonna have the sensor welded in and do it right for air to fuel. I need to have my subfame connectors put it so while it is up on the lift shouldn't be too hard. I am never selling this car so I want to do everything right so there is less chance of screwin it up later.

thanks for the help by the way.

I am adding fuel/oil pressure as well now, how hard are they to install and where can I get the fittings for all this stuff?

ok it looks like if I unscrew the schrader valve on the fuel line my pressure sensor will screw right in.

I still have no idea where to put the water/oil temp sensors. Could I just drill and tapp a hole in the housing for the thermostat? For oil temp I assume I would need to have the pan drilled and tapped? Where does the oil pressure sensor go? Sorry for all the questions just lost as to where I need to put these.

This is the stock water temp sending unit on the drivers side lower manifold and where you are supposed to install the new one:

I need a fitting to do the install, again does anyone now the size of the fitting?
