Asking because it's on the '99 GT I'm looking at on Saturday:

stock H

SLP LM2 cat-back

.Will I hate it? Chances of getting pulled over every 10 feet? lol

oh-- I did scope it out on youtube- but I couldn't find any indicated as having the stock H-pipe. Tons of LM2 videos, though

I'd keep the cats, can fail inspection without them in NY. Found a few clips of LM2 and stock H, still pretty loud, the cops in my area aren't the most lenient fellows out there lol

What are they gonna do? Pull you over and literally crawl under the car to see what you have on there? I don't think so. There are very few cars out there that are loud enough to get ticketed for noise pollution.

The only way to get pulled over for a mustang exhaust is maybe Cut outs/open headers...

or driving like a freaking fool.

Dont give them a reason to pull you over. Drive normal and most will give you a thumbs up =]

And that setup wont be loud @ all. That midpipe will keep it quiet.. :dontknow: Matter of fact.. i bet it'll just change the tone of your exhaust (different mufflers) but keep the same volume pretty much. Well... actually the extra increase in piping size might add a wee bit of volume, but not enough to get pulled over.

Agreed. Never been pulled for a noise violation. And I ran with headers/offroad H and no mufflers while waiting on my dumps to come in. Never had an issue.

Alright, so I should be good there, then. Goldmember was loud when I first got it, used to have to kick the clutch in when driving past a sitting cop. Quiet as a mouse at idle LOL

For anyone who has this setup- how is the noise/drone inside the car?

I don't mean to sound like an ass but I've been in "quiet" cars the past couple years lol

Unless you change the midpipes or headers with it i doubt itll be to much louder than stock, I put spintech pro streets on mine and like said above it really only changed the tone of the exhaust, maybe a hair louder but not a whole lot

It's a moot point now, guys. Owner of the GT e-mailed last night and decided he couldn't let it go at $4500 but would take a higher offer. Unfortunately $4500 happens to be my limit...

...so this is now a 99+ V6 hunt. Would rather have one of those than a ragged-out GT, in my area that's what $4500 gets you.

You should be fine, I have headers, o/r x-pipe and slp lm1's dumped. It's loud when you get on it, but if you can keep it below 3000rpm its not super loud

Call your local new york state inspector( meineke or Midas whatever) and just ask them if there is a local decible limit for your town( for exhaust that is). If they say yes ask what the number is and then Find out how many decible the loudmouth is. To make sure it's legal. I have a stock h pipe with magnapacks on it's 101 decibles, loud lol. But there are no limits it my area. ( and usually noT too many areas unless your in a major city). I've had no trouble with it yet, and I've drove past cops and all that.... I just make sure I don't step on it around them;) lol
