i recently asked you all how to fit 315 tires under my rear end, and the most common response was "flip your quad shocks".. i was confused at first, but i went out and did it. so im trying to help others who might not know exactly what im talking about.
first we must understand what a quad shock is.
the quad shock is fords solution to wheelhop that plagues high horsepower machines, and normally breaks things very quicky.
corvettes suffer from this problem as well, and there is a diaper like apparatus that holds the tranny and diffy so they dont 'splode.
unfortunatly, those among us who wish to use large tires, must create the nessecary clearance to house such monsters as 315's.
soooo without further ado, here is....
**how to flip your quad shocks!!**
first, take off your wheel.
next, locate your quad shock.
third, notice the 2 bolts right behind your brakes. the one in front is welded to the wheel stub, so you cant remove it. the nut in the back is actually a long bolt, thats the one you'll need to take out. you can see ive loosened it out so you can see it better.
then take out the top bolt.
the shock should just slide off, i didnt take a picture of this step, i think it will be mostly self explanatory how to remove it.
now simply flip it and adjust it as needed.
bolt it back up and re intall your wheel.
i hope this helped everyone who was wondering how to flip quad shocks, i hope i also contributed to this site instead of simply asking questions.
im not sure if this will sticky or not, but a child can dream, cant he?
excuse the somewhat blurriness of the photos, and the extreme filth of my undercarriage, as im not used to my new camera, and i havent powerwashed the stang in a while.
thanks all!
