So I ordered a Corbeau harness bar for my notch, because I'm an uber-ricer like that and want something that is completely useless in terms of real safety, but has the appearance of racey-ness. It looks like this:

I want to get some nice cam-lock harnesses for it, but I'm not sure which ones I should get. My racecar just had simple Simpson latch-type harnesses, but I'd prefer something a little bit more slick for my little driver. I figure they have to be black, because the rest of the interior is and I think anything else wouldn't match right.

So, what to get? And where? Schroth? Simpson? Corbeau? NRG? Sparco? G-Force? What?

Sooo, everyone stretch our your ricer skills and help me pick some. They will be attached to my harness bar, and passing through my black Microsuede Corbeau CR1s. I'm looking for something "upscale" if that means anything.

Now, great SN95 army, go forth, and post pics of great ideas.

Paul.

I had Corbeau LG1's in my F350 I had, they had bolted right to stock location I know this doesnt help. However I did have the cam lock style harness and I will say they were very very easy, worked well in hot and cold weather and took a ton of abuse in that truck.

I had Deist in my LX. You have to make sure you get the right one so you don't end up w/ the side belts being too short. I liked it because the latch assembly cover was aluminum and polished up.

couldn't find any of the full belt installed

I like the Sparco, but I hate the yellow waist pad on them. My whole interior is black, and that will stick out like a sore thumb.

The actual Corbeau belt's are super good looking. A friends European inspired late 70's 280z has the micro suede Corbeau seats and he runs the black Corbeau harnesses. It's a thing of beauty Paul when having Corbeau script vertically and horizontally matching.

Paul is your car going to be used on the street a lot? If so I'd highly recommend looking into getting Schroth Harnesses. If you run a harness bar with non-DOT approved harnesses you could end up strangling yourself. Schroth's are at least street-legal... but I do not know if they sell cam-locks as DOT approved...

My car will almost exclusively be a street car. (hence the ricer-ism occurring here)

How would I strangle myself with a non-DOT harness? Never heard of that before.

The majority of race harnesses are not DOT approved, but I have no reason to believe they are not much safer than a standard 3 point belt.

Paul.

I phrased that incorrectly I apologize.

Harnesses with just a Harness bar are unsafe. in a severe accident the harness bar can shift rearward or to an angle to wear it could strangle you. That's why I never recommend a harness bar, a bolt-in cage is probably a better idea.

Instead of running a harness bar if you just want harnesses, the Schroth Harnesses are more than enough and they're less of a pain to hook up than a cam lock setup. The schroth Harnesses mount in the stock location but also provide great restraint all while being DOT legal..

Looks bad. Still not sure how that would choke the driver though.

depending on the seat type i've seen it dig into necks, compress the drivers chest so he can't breathe, etc.

We had a driver in NASA HPDE out here a couple years back that mounted his harnesses incorrectly and that's what strangled him (he was using a harness bar). That's what led to the eventual ban of harness bars in NASA.

Considering your reputation, I doubt you'd mount the harnesses incorrectly, but, regardless I still don't recommend a harness bar for the above reasoning.
