Ignition Spout

How about the SPOUT. If it were bad, would the ignition fail to advance the distributor? What would happen if the system were run without the spout? No Advance? Does an Anderson PMS bypass the spout or work along with the spout? I have a 94 that has been tweaked quite a bit and it has worked fine for 2 years but all of a sudden the ignition has "gone south". I have traced the problem to, possibly the spout. Any input is greatly a appreciated.

Not sure how possible it is to go bad but you can use a paper clip in it's place.

the car can run without the spout (this is how I pass my emissions sniff test). It'll start, run and drive fine up to about 3000 rpm then falls on it's face.
IDK about the pms stuff
What other mods do you have?

The timing will be fixed without the spout. I'd go to a junkyard and get another one.

If I remove the spout the car will run but very lazy. Checking the timing, with the spout out there is no timing advance ( as it is supposed to do) but when I put the spout back in the thing runs like crap. No power, chugs and runs very rough ! I replaced the spout with a new one, no change. I changed computer, no change.
Thoughts, anyone?

With the spout out there is no timing advance other than when rotating the distributor to set the timing. It should read 10*-12* BTDC. With the spout in the timing will move as you increase/decrease engine speed. Need some more background info before likely solutions can be offered. When was the last time the basics were done? Rotor, cap, plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, cleaned the MAF, etc.

PLEASE, don't take this wrong... This motor combination, 347 FRPP sportsman block with Edelbrock RPM heads, RPM II intake, complete aeromotive fuel system from tank to fuel rails, 75mm TB, Motorvation custom chip, complete MSD system with digital box, Grantelli MAF and much much more, has run as low as 11.90 @114.5. It just all of a sudden decided to give me fits. I have replaced the distributor, the MSD box, the EECU IV box, the custom chip, the MAF, the coil, the spout, and the EGR valve. Still the same out come. When the spout is put back in after setting the timing, the engine will hardly run. If I remove the spout the motor runs OK at LOW RPM, but there is nothing at higher RPM. When I check the timing there is NO advance. It feel acts like something is shorting out or going to ground with the spout installed.
Thoughts?

I think your prob is ignition related. 1st try to take the msd box out of the system and see if it's any better. if that's no change put the stock dizzy back in. The MSD stuff has been known to be unreliable in out cars.

While I don't like to throw parts on unnecessarily I would try replacing the TFI module. If that doesn't work remove the MSD stuff and put the stock coil and dizzy back.
