Well ours is mexhanical but its mechanical in the cluster there is no physical connection between the trans and the cluster it just uses a motor to turn the odo and trip so if the newer cluster is a self contained unit ( the mileage and such is stores in the cluster) and the plugs are the same i sont see why it wouldnt work.... I just dont wanna buy one to try it tho lol

Because our clusters are mechanical in the gauge. The feed that it gets,tells the motor to turn and the rest is done by gears. The 99-04 gets their feed from the computer I believe and it tells it what numbers to display not to turn the motor

Ok i guess where can i get a reman cluster? Mine the temp gauge dont work and the odo/trip dont work either

Yah, ebay, craigslist, junkyard. probably craigslist for the cheapest

Just go to a junkyard and pull it from a v6 car, when i was looking for an odo gear I hit jackpot when i found an all stock 95 GT with around 90000 wich had already aftermarket odo gears, i felt bad for the car , who the hell junks a GT like that.
