all he's looking for is a "little better performance" -- buy a NPI V8 and you'll have your 50 HP bump + t-lok + brakes..... Doesnt sound like he's looking for a hot rod (to me, anyways.)

Well, I want a dd hotrod haha. I want to build it up on my own though, which is why I like the idea of a built v6

Oh, and what year 4.2 is compatible with my 3.8? I found a rebuilt one on craigslist from a 2004 for 300 obo

I would sell that v6 with all that work needed to someone for cheap. I see v6s here go for 800 to 1200 more whole than that.

I would then turn around with that money you have and just got and buy a much better, more reasonable v6 mustang. Because currently, you're going to stack up in money you don't have for the maintenance and fixing, not even the build. Find a v6 that needs little maintenance.

The 99-04 3.8L V6 usually dynos with on par or even higher rwhp than the non PI 4.6L V8 - just something to think about.

He owns a new edge you fools lol. Supercoupe swap is dump, you have to down grade the heads and intakes to upgrade. It's cool for singleports, meh for split ports.

All 97-04 4.2's would work, and there might be some others ones as well

Even if this is true, id be worried about real world results.

How much more torque does the v8 make?

My friend had an auto 2000 3.8 that he did all the bolt ons, 4.10s, etc and it would run mid/ low 15s. My bolt on npi was running 14.0s all day long even though he may have dynod the same as my npi.

Just something to consider.

Hey! I know you from mustangforums. I'm Mrizk1, you helped me out with a few questions about my sixxer before :D

Anyaws, I've been keeping my options open and surfing craigslist and I've found a few cars I want you guys to gve me an opinion on:

This one is kinda ugly, but in great condition:

This cobra is beautiful, but a bit high onmileage:

I'd shy away from the fox. Too much work to get it street legal. The Cobra listing won't come up for me.

Justin - My 100% stock 3.8L (2000) dyno'd 160/200 @ wheels the first time I strapped it to the rollers. It had a touch over 100,000 miles on it at that point. From what I've seen it's on par with most other V6s of that generation. Modified changes the game. The V6 with "all the bolt ons" will scoop up a whopping 5-7 rwhp for a thousand dollars spent. Better money is spent on forced induction for those motors.
