buddy of mine bought a brand new ws6 in 02. i enjoyed it except the trunk space. and backseat damn near non existent. had power for what we wanted to do. which was raise hell.

As for the F-body "hate," it's personal preference. I don't hate them, I prefer Mustangs (and grew up in a Ford family). I can respect a nice car when I see one though, and yours is a damn nice car. I was doing a little reading up on the early SN95's before I bought my '97 and a lot of the F-body/Mustang comparisons arrived at the same conclusion- if you want raw muscle, get an F-body; if you want decent performance and a better daily driver, get the Mustang.

I've got a '00 ws6, and don't get me wrong I love it, but I kind of regret not going with a 03/04 cobra. I don't get this hate on GM/LS1/F bodies though, if it's american, rwd and V8+, I like it.

The bottom line is it's about personal preference. Ford doesn't believe in getting into horse power wars with GM. It just doesn't payout for their profit line. Ford knew people want good looks, comfortable suspension, semi-roomy interior and a V-8 with some kick. They don't compete with GM. Apparently it worked. No matter how much HP an LS1 can make their cars can't sell. Not the Trans Am, not the Camaro, not the Pontiac GTO, it doesn't matter what you put it in the Mustang always outsell them.

Reality is this. If you're into speed, and you like to have fun every now and then racing light to light or going at it on the highway then you know neither one of these cars are considered fast anymore. They got Nissan Altimas coming out the showroom that can blow Mustang GTs and a lot of Cobras away. Not to mention all the Subarus and RSX's you have to war with. Its a war out here, choose your weapon accordingly. Based on what I see on this site, most of you guys are going up against an army with a hand gun.

I don't have any hate towards the LSx series engines. If you're a real car guy; how could you? It's American muscle.

Why do people buy a 96-98 Cobra to compete with an LSx? :dunno: I didn't buy my car to compete with anything. I like Mustangs and maybe that's why others buy Cobras. Ultimately, the LS1 is our greatest rival.
Why did Ford use the 4.6? The 4.6 was supposed to make more power but who knows why it first showed up in the Mustang with 215. Us 4.6 guys don't get much support but I think we do pretty damn good considering.

The only LSx motor car I would own would be a Z and not the POS Z28.

Gotta give credit to GM for haveing some balls about them and producing a motor that will make power na.

But on the same note I LOVE my stang and would not take anything for it, if I have to make 400-500hp with a blower then so be it. Last time I checked 500hp is 500hp no matter how you make it. :p

Now if ford would get smart and put the gt500 motor in a 3300-3500lb car that would be something to have. :) Don't get me worng the GT500 does roll out pretty good :)

the cobra goes back to the 60s, it came from the shelby edition stangs, that's how they went from horse to snake, Reality

i was just cruising in muh ovenstang, stuck in traffic next to a Z a purple one at that...i nodded to the guy and thought to myself...that ugly *ss car could destroy me in a race, now that we're stuck in traffic i'm sure folks would rather stare at mine

i personally love WS6's, but as far as any other vehicle with the LSx platform i just dont like. Yeah they may be strong runners but i want something that looks good as well. And man your car is SICK, nicely done and CLEAN! that and like Rick FOcks said, its a rivalry.

This is why you guy's drive Mustang's and don't care, they sound cooler. That's most of the market right there.


Anyway, HAndz, oh Handz........ Why does MM copy a terribly designed suspension and sell it? A suspension that the super awesome stock four link in the Mustang will out handle? I mean, they are your idols, your little suspension god's, MM>all, right? So why do they COPY and inferior design?

it takes more to make a stang go fast, it takes more to make a camaro go fast as a Viper or any other number of cars

there will always be faster so i do what makes me happy...KJ costed me $3300 I've got $600 in wheels/tires and not even $200 worth of suspension parts to go on... how much would a pi swap cost me? not including labor about $1500, or a s/c? $4k maybe... that's plenty fast and i can sit up straight in the car so it's more comfy (can't really buy that)

there's something strange about the snives that grabs me, this is my second one, and i still miss my first one and wish i wouldn't have traded it for a new edge, that's a big part of it to me

think i'm gonna go look up the ls swap thread...

lol i don't even know how many editions to the mustang they have now, there are so many it's just kind of losing it's meaning.

I agree 100% with that. Something I've mentioned in multiple GM vs. Ford discussions.
