Yeah careful with audi's, A chic i kno got a great deal on a 2001 audi s4,but she was forced to sell it up because the upkeep will cost as much as the cars worth, her trans blew up in it, and when she got the bill she was dumbfounded, lets just say she didnt keep the car lol

What her s4 and auto or manual?

Nice cars but like Vinnie is saying if you can't or won't do the work yourself it might not be a smart buy for you.

I've been looking for a 4X4 winter DD and my wife has got me looking at Land Rovers and MB's and BMW's etc because she thinks if i spend an extra 2-3k over my 5k limit on a "nicer" car it will be safer and more reliable etc and i can't get it through her head that i know how and like working on Fords and when things go bad on a Rover or Benz the parts are not cheap and my unfamiliarity with them will mean longer down time for repairs.

I love German cars but love them even more under warranty!

Old Range Rovers are Legit. They go forever and are tough as nails. Well built machines. You just need to get one with the Pushrod Rover V8. That motor pretty much powered Britain for 50+ years.

...With that being said, Nothing matches the term "Built Ford Tough" when it comes to Trucks/SUVs

Basically everything y'all are saying are valid points. Most have rolled around in my head. I work for a ford dealership and build and race cars so I have plenty of car working skills. I really want to spend 5-7k at the most. I'd love to buy a sport trac to haul the quad in but I can't find one cheap enough. May just keep on dding the mustang and throw a vortech on it.

My wife is looking at 01/02 LR Discovery Series II's and thats before the Ford Engines went in but i thought they were junky Olds engines that are underpowered and leak everywhere an engine/trans/tranfer could leak from.

The Old Rover V8 was actually a VERY good motor. Its all Aluminum and designed by GM.

The motor was not just is Land rovers, but also TVR's, Rovers, range rovers, MG's Morgan +8, Discovers, Marcos, westfield race cars, caterhams..... It ran Britain.

I just turned over 211k miles on my 02 CRV and it drives like it's brand new. We've owned it for 160k miles since 05 and obviously we like to drive, lol. The only issue we've ever had was the A/C pump needed to be replaced when we bought it. 32mpg on the Hwy and 28-30 in the winter regular driving. It's only mods are my old K&N filter from my mustang and a set of 08 cabin seats. (Comfy!) It's not the most conveniently designed suv but it's a work horse.

You should look for a Ranger if you want something to haul your quad around in. They're pretty cheap and that will absolutely no problem to work. Plus Rangers can look badass. :D

Toyota ftw, I had a 89 toyota truck with 36" super swampers, a 4" inch lift and bds suspension. The only time I ever got stuck in it was when I broke my front axle.

the best part is you can't even see me through my windshield. I sure do miss that truck.
