My new suspension

The roads around here suck and I've decided to put my GT springs on. They have low miles and have been is storage. Here are all the parts I have.

- NEW Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks and struts
- NEW Strut Boot kit
- NEW Strut mounting kit
- NEW BBK polyurethane spring isolators
- OEM Springs

Anybody know what these are? They came with my stock springs. Do I need to re-use them?

OEM springs? You're supposed to go lower not higher

I'm concerned that if I stay lowered the Monroe shocks and struts won't ride as nice. My ride is so stiff right now I just want comfort. I got all these parts as a gift so I'm trying to make the best with what I have.

You need struts that accommodate to the lowered suspension. Your going to miss the lowered stance right away if you go back up to stock height. Not trying to knock on ya man just trying to help a brotha out GLWS!

I understand your problem & feel bad for you...at least check into stock Mach 1 springs they are 3/4" lower than GT springs & still ride nice & comfortable but will have a better stance & look. Subtle but there. We love the ride in our Mach 1 & are not interested in going lower on it.

There are some stock 10k mile 03 OEM COBRA springs for sale on CL. Would those work good?

Cobra springs will still make you car look like a monster truck. There are lots of springs out there that will work fine with the monroe struts/shocks and still be able to give you a nice drop.
What was wrong with the ones you had on it before?

They are just worn out. Maybe I'll call Monroe and see what springs will work well.

Anybody know what these are? They came with my stock springs. Do I need to re-use them?

The black things are the bump stops that go inside the coil springs. They keep your suspension from bottoming out. They provide a limit for how much your coil springs can compress. Its best to reinstall them, that way you don't have some other components rubbing to limit very large hits. I tossed mine to be honest though, but my car is intended for strip/ street use.

Those rubber hubs go inside your springs.
Replace the monroes and problem solved. Rubber iso's under lowering springs help.

The Mach 1 or Bullitt springs as mentioned are a nice compromise. I wanted to buy the Bullitt Suspension kit but it was back ordered and then the prices went crazy high after everyone found out about it. I went with some Steeda springs and they are great but sit a little low for DD use and sometimes wished I had waited for what I really wanted. Now I don't daily drive the car so it doesn't matter.

I DD my car and even though i keep up on maintenance and detail I'm on a budget. I figured I will try the GT springs with the new shocks and struts and when I can garage the car I will probably put some nice coil overs on it.

Keep an eye on the for sale threads over on corral.net and ebay. I have seen the mach 1 springs sell for $50. The Ford racing c springs are similar also.

I put the GT Springs in the rear yesterday. It rides so much nicer without the H&R Race springs that knock your teeth out over bumps on these shitty roads. So the back is done, its got all new shocks, bbk isolators and the GT springs.

It was a pain putting those springs back there. I ended up having to rent a spring compressor tool. I'm still considering paying a shop to do the struts and springs up front or doing it myself. Its pretty cold outside now and it rained on me all day yesterday while rolling around in the dirt. :undecided:

I was thinking the same thing. It looks like a drag car now. haha

I'm still on the fence about leaving the H&R sports up front or putting the GT springs in front to level it out. The car handle pretty good with just the Sports up front.
