thats a ballast weight ford put in the convertibles to counter-balance the battery in an effort to prevent chassis flex put sub frame connectors in and you can remove it.
removing it without the SFCs can lead to leaking window seals.
Its a weight they put into our cars to help with vibration, weight transfer/ balance; at least that is what I have read about it. Just a big dumb 25lb weight that the majority of people take out cause its literally just there. I took mine out....RACECAR
I have a complete driveline that I was going to put into my 95 v6 but now I can sell the v6. I am wanting to completely "restore" this car and finish where the previous owner started with brake and suspension upgrades. I have a rebuilt 302 with a lot of work and a new heavy duty T5 for it. The guy basically decided to strip the car after someone slashed the top and broke the windsheild.
You can, honestly it won't really make a difference though. You get the weight reduction and its really not that hard to remove; you could just leave the hangers on there for it if you felt you got any negative affects from removing it.
I honestly never saw myself purchasing a green car. I always like black or dark blue metallic. I have to say that this color is growing on me though. I can't wait to get this car back on the road but I still have a lot of parts to track down (and that bag of money to buy them with)
