I have been searching around for a set of used drag radials to make about 10 passes on in the next few months. I don't really know much about the lifecycle of drag radials and at what point they become useless. Could someone with experience using drag radials take a look at these pics and give an advisal on whether or not these have enough left in them for about 10 good passes. thanks!

The nitto d/r's new tread is 6/32. Do you have a tread depth gauge? Look around for some M&H or MT ET streets. You can find them for a good price. I would say they have about 10 passes left although a D/R is going to be more of a shock to your rear end and drivetrain then a set of slicks on some Cheap V6 Wheels. If you can get a set and get some slicks that would be the best bet.

I gotta say I think those Nittos have plenty left for 10 passes. I was running Nittos for a while and took them to the track a few times, the 2nd I went time I gave them three long burns and they still have a lot of tread on them and thats after a few years of driving as well. The Nittos last a LOT longer than other drag radials.

Those absolutely have more than 10 passes left in them. FWIW though, I had 2 set of 315 Nitto drags on my old '95 and they lasted a pretty long time, but didn't hook for shit and that was with a stock 5.0 with only full exhaust, CAI, and 3.73's to get it moving. I'd recommend trying to find some used Mickeys or Hoosiers instead. They won't least nearly as long, but they will hook MUCH better.

Those have plenty of tread left. I don't know if you will be happy with those though. If you are pushing and kind of power, you'll spin. I had them and couldn't hook up at all. I went with the mickey thompson dr's and could hook up, spraying a 100 shot out of the hole with my 347.

Those have plenty of passes left on them for sure. I usually lower my tire pressure to around 10-12 PSI and it usually gives me pretty good results with traction.

+1 my friend used to wrinkle his 17" Nitto DRs.

While some tires will hook better than others, with 300whp, you can make a set of nittos hook...you have to have some sort of suspension setup. NOT stock controls arms with lowering springs. Slicks on stock axles is overkill and a stupid way to break shit. Properly setup i.e. tire pressure, pinion angle, proper burnout, and launch techniques....all influence whether you "hook"' or not. That AND, if you're going and trying to run on the average test and tune night after a one wheel peeling S-10 just tore up the starting line and an e-brake draggin honda just watered down the 60ft area...well then if you're expecting results, you're sadly mistaken. What I'm getting at is that yes, there are tires that are vastly superior to the Nittos however, with 258rwhp, the Nittos will suit you fine.
