I've just recently had a new frpp clutch, pilot bearing and throw out bearing installed on the mustang. I should've realized that my upr clutch cable that's been on the car is bad but I didn't even give the horrible pedal feel a thought until a few days ago I noticed my new throw out bearing making some noise(nothing crazy). I've just ordered a maximum motorsports cable in hopes of getting rid of the stiff pedal and tob noise. Is it possible that I haven't already ruined the tob?

How many miles since you installed the bearing?

after installing mine, I have since noticed some light noise. Sometimes I can feel a slight bind when clutchin and if I barely rest my foot on the clutch it makes a real light high pitched noise but has been find for the last 8k miles doing this.... I hear the TOB are just crap in general now.

ive heard that mustangs are very very picky when it comes to TOB, if you order aftermarket ones and stuff like that they will make noise. I dont know about ford racing since it is a ford product but if its new just take it back, and i know that will be a head ache :/

I so want a hydraulic conversion kit now! Lol. Yeah i know for a fact they will refuse to take it back. I started the car up last night and the damn thing didn't make any noise so ill go ahead and install the mm cable and see what happens:-/

I had to put a flamesuit on when I mentioned the hydraulic clutch conversion Haha but I'm in a similar boat. I need to replace my factory clutch assembly and I am worried about running into this issue. I've heard a bunch of people replace the TOB and it starts making noise. Mine right now makes a ton of noise but I'm hoping the MM clutch kit helps some. I'll be ordering it soon.

If you get the conversion kit definitely let me know how you like it so I can figure out if I should go that route.

MM cables ARE Ford OEM.... I think your TOB will be fine with the new MM cable. definitely worth the try as it is so easy to replace compared to the TOB....I can almost gaurantee your pedal effort will be fixed too! Depends on the condition of your quadrant somewhat...a new cable from MM totally fixed my super hard pedal!!!!! Good luck & let us know....

Are all of you guys using or aware of the LDC mod from Lethal??? It positively returns the TOB to the neutral position & keeps it from squealing... I love mine. Very cheap $16-17 but the same in shipping! Still not too bad for the peace of mind.

I was just reading about that mod from lethal. I'm greatly considering it. Mm is lucky they make the best stuff, its taken them three days from the time i placed my order to actually ship it..ugh I want to drive my car!

I just don't get why it's so hard for someone to make quality parts. It's not like this is new technology or anything. It can't be THAT hard.

I agree. I mean I've done dozens of tob changes on hondas that use cable trannys and have never an issue. Even using cheapo parts store tob's. Why cant a few companies make a decent tob for a mustang? As big as the aftermarket is for these cars you would figure there would be atleast one badass tob

Either get one of those nationals as posted above or find a Federal Mogul/BCA TOB. All metal construction = no squeal. They go for about 30-35 bucks on Rockauto.com.
I have one in my GT and that thing has seen lots of abuse and in the 2 yrs it was in the car while it was running, its never made a sound.

I had only "1" TOB come back in the time I worked in the local ford shop as a line mechanic, it came in for a busted transmission (input shaft, clutch, etc all replaced), it came back after 15,000 miles, and in this case the clutch was again fried and the input shaft twisted. You may have just got a bad one.
