Re: Nice aftermarket Valve Covers?

Matt, if you want a set I can do them for you. You can either try to find a set and send them to me, or I can try to find some.

However, my schedule is quite hectic, so it may take me a bit.

Matt, looks like I located a set of valve covers that I can use.

Do you have aftermarket roller rockers? If so, I'll need to clearance the inside of the valve covers or they won't fit. Plus, I need to get my pressure blaster set up in my new cabinet because the OEM coating is damn near impossible to get off otherwise.

Well there are a number of preferences listed here, and who is right? Which is best? The owner's of the car of course!

I tried to locate an American made plain die cast cover manufacturer to carry a line with my own machined designs but am still unable to locate one.

I found out after I got them that they were not made in the USA, but the ones on my wife's engine I machined a design into and they are the only ones around that I know of.

The picture is a little funky, they really are smoother than in this pic.

Her car doesn't have any name brands under the hood unless you count Edelbrock cast into the intake or SVO machined into the end of the heads. Basically, no name brands jump out or scream at you when you open the hood.

Re: Nice aftermarket Valve Covers?

No worries about money. The cost to me is practically nothing but time. The only expense is a few ounces of powder, some sandpaper, and the electricity to run my oven and monster compressor. :hammer:

What color do you want?

I have:

silver metallic
gunmetal gray metallic
charcoal metallic
light grey metallic
matte black
satin black
sheen black
mirror black

...and lots of other colors. I think ultra mirror orange would be perfect. :hammer:

You can up my hosting allocation if you want. I've almost maxed my 50 mb already because of my build thread.

Re: Nice aftermarket Valve Covers?

Gunmetal gray metallic is the color of the valve covers pictured above. If you look in my build thread you'll see more examples of that color. I also have some matte black in there.

I've not done silver yet - but if you look at www.columbiacoatings.com you can probably find some good examples of silver there. What does your engine look like? I could probably dream up a color that would fit the "theme" pretty well.

Well geesh, if you are about bragging about an oil filter then I guess you could say a name brand jumps out at you. :hammer:

I'm talking about on the valve covers or air cleaner and such where brand names are usually prominent. :knuppel2:

I made custom valve covers so there is no brand name there. I removed the Edelbrock metal label from the air cleaner so that there is no name there, and instead of getting a Wilwood master cylinder I got another brand with a plain lid that I machined her custom license plate number into. There's no big brand names being advertised anywhere on the car.

.....unless of course you consider the raised white letters on the tires, but then again that is an old school preference. It sets off the Magnum 500's.

Paul, if you're willing to give it away I might have you do some stuff for me. :coolsmiley:

Re: Nice aftermarket Valve Covers?

my canton covers came today.. they looks sweet. a little scuffed up from packaging I assume, but I will buff/polish them up a little before throwing them on.

hopefully get a couple things done tomorrow, I'll post up some pics in my semi-build thread if I make any headway.
