The reason i ask is that a friend of mine with a 97 GT bought and installed a 98 nPI intake from a wrecked crowm vic. His stoker cracked, and he done it solely as a stock replacement knowing nothing about 4.6l intakes.

It installed fine though a few things didn't line up. mainly the plenum being the CV's face the driver side, but it was close enough that it was able to be installed with a mustang plenum.

The thing about the intake, is that it is actually very different than the mustang plenum. it wieghs about 2-3 lbs heavier, and the runners are noticeably larger. like, PI intake sized or larger. but is an all plastic nPI intake. runners are laid out like a nPI. but just very large. also the ports are shaped different than the mustang intake ports.

Anyone know anything about these intakes? do they perform better than mustang nPI's, still worse than PI's?

Its just the first one i seen and its size made me wonder about it.

maybe its not the original intake. Some of the early replacement intakes were all plastic but beefier and they cracked also forcing Ford to go with the aluminum crossover version.
