My '98 Cobra's front bumper already had 4 bolt holes from the previous owner having to have a front license plate on it.......

And I thought it would be fine to have it fixed, but just recently while attempting to get the car onto a U-haul tow dolly I/ my "spotter" managed to take 2 chunks outa the front bumper. :crying:
So I'm thinking its just not worth trying to fix.
SO, I wanted to know if buying the OEM one:

Is worth all the extra money as aposed to the Aftermarket:

http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/iwwida.pvx?;item?item_no=LRS-8190F 1&comp=LRS

I have already put allot of $$$ in my cobra and its very rare, so I don't want a saggy bumper or one that doesn't fit.
Opinions?
Thanks

I say look around. I got my OEM cobra bumper for $249 locally. I would still go with OEM... especially since it is a Cobra.

i just picked up an OEM bumper brand new from ford a week ago.. i used to work there so i got employee pricing which
was still $421 after taxes. But my parts guy told me that there are only 11 94-98 cobra bumpers left to sell from ford,
after that, they are discontinuing them.

I have an aftermarket Cobra bumper that is waiting to be prepped, painted and installed yet. But I bought it from a friend of mine who owns Speed Concepts out here in Cali and he has one on his car and it looks GOOD. Absolutely perfect actually... so I bought one. 250 bucks and I picked it up. I'm not telling you guys to buy from Speed Concepts but I am saying that there isn't anything so special about the OEM covers anymore and the aftermarket ones do fit quite well.

I have the ABC one with the lip to go on mine. I had been thinking of which hood to buy for my car. I looked @ 50resto. I asked [email protected], who works there, about their brand vs OEM stuff. I am very poor. He said there stuff is every bit as good as OEM stuff though. I found a hood through Ebay, but I was looking to buy their brand though. I just wanted to let you know that.

you have a rare cobra keep it OEM / depending on how bad the bumper really is you may be able to have a body shop fill the gouges in the cover. if there it a hole in it that would be a diff story

They're not that rare....

I got an aftermarket one....it came in a wings west box. Cost 189 plus shipping. Fit and finsh was great...and its urethane. Thats the key. If its fiberglass, avoid it.

lol i thought they only made ricer body kits out of fiberglass, so they could break off if you scraped it. That would suck.

I just bought an OEM Cobra bumper from the Ford dealer I deal with for my car.

$287 was list price (Thats Canadian $ before taxes). But I paid much less than that.

I have an aftermarket piece ready to go on my white car and I bet you wont be able to tell the difference between it and the OEM on my 95 Cobra.

Hey Paul, let me see if my buddy can get one shipped to you for a reasonable price. I paid 250 for mine, no shipping since he sourced it locally. Maybe there is someone out there he can oprder it from and set it up so you can pick it up and not have it shoved in a box.

I looked @ buying from them when I bought mine. I cannot remember why, but I chose not to buy from them. Dang, I cannot remember my reason!

I just found this thread again...

Hey Paul my buddy that I bought my bumper doesn't have a source out there, but his parts rep out here gave him this number of someone out there in Phoenix that gets the same stuff. 800 551 5605
Their part number is FO1000238, cross ref. number is F4ZZ17D957B
Tell them you got a price from "Speed Concepts" in california of 250.00 and ask for a price match and if you can will call. You really dont want those monkeys at UPS handling this. They WILL fvck it up.

I'm really pleased with my Blue Oval Industries bumper. It's like 10000000000x better than the bumper that was on it. And so far no problems (had it for about month). And it was the cheapest I could find without going the eBay route. eBay and big car parts scare me unless I can go look at it... and I don't go to far lmao
