Painted mine red about 3-4 weeks ago. Looks awesome. I just figured out something nifty, take tire shine and wipe the gas tank down with it. Comes out as black as the car and glossy, so the red straps really pop. Only have a few pics of how I painted them, can't get a good shot of the armor all'd tank and straps tho.

Looks good but why didnt you take it all the way up them? Id throw some clear on em too to make em pop even more.

Haha I knew someone was gonna ask. Main reason is because you don't see it from behind the car. If I ever needed to take the straps down, the top where I didn't paint is where they'd come off from and I don't wanna paint em to have to re paint em.

Lol if I had the clear I'd of done it for sure. I used brake caliper paint, which can withstand high heat (I know its not the same as like high heat engine paint). It's really glossy in person, you can't really tell it from the pictures at all. I used a hard wire brush to get all the old gunk off, didn't need to be sanded at all. 4 Coats brushed on, holds up fine.

Lol we have the same mindset. I might get the tank cleared, idk yet. That's true, it'll get filthy lol. But you know what, take some tire shine and spray a lot on a rag, wipe the trunk and it looks like it was cleared and the red really pops.

I just need to paint my dang tank cover. The previous owner got white overspray all over it and it looks terrible. The painted straps look great though.. granted, i'm not sure it'd look good in white :(

Same lol. I think I'll wait for the spring time to do it, starting to get cold here. That sucks lol, you could spray it black (the tank), give it like 3-4 coats, than like 2-3 coats of clear. Dude the tank straps in white would look so sick, you should definitely do it! thanks lol

I took a wire wheel to get the gunk off...pretty messy, about two hours then more to get them shiny & paint the cover..I like your red very much, I thought about blue for a bit,,,,I like the Eibach Pro kit Plus suspension a lot! no complaints other than I think the shocks & struts are about worn out, lots of years & many miles so they are due....saving for air ride or Konis at the moment. The car handles bettr than I can drive! Another incredible mod was the MM LCA'S! Solved my wheel hop problems. Also just waiting for Whiteline to make a Watts Link for our years...they promised me!
