If you sanded it off, how will people know it's the SRS Edition Mustang with the logo on the airbag? LOL
I wanted it to be stealth mode, leave people guessing ;p
Dang. I painted one once and I never had that much problems

Ha, win some, lose some
i think it works. have to see more overall interior shots in the daylight but i think it looks good.
I'll get some this weekend. I still need to go around the and trim up the edges, just trying to let it dry. My coworker though it looked sick. I think it actually looks quite nice, in fact I'm surprised lol
what kind/brand of paint/primer were you using? I have had issues like that before and the only thing I could really attribute it to was possibly the brands I was using. I have not used rustoleom since.........
If I can't get duplicolor(or krylon fusion for plastic), I go to the next store.
THe one that did the initial screwing up and bubbling was duplicolor =/
An Airbag should never be painted. the tear seam through the center will have to much material build up and change the way an airbag deploys. you certainly should not put a covering over it ie carbon fiber. if anything you should have used vinyl dye. for saftey reasons get rid of that airbag. just my .02
I scraped all the paint out of the seam area, and the vinyl over it is split in the middle. It's essentially just a sticker on the face. Explain to me what the problem is?
Pretty sure getting hit in the face with an airbag IF it ever deploys will still hurt like a mofo regardless painting over the Seam or not
That being said I have no idea what to use LOL

The airbag cover can be painted with vinyl dye but must be cleaned really well before spraying. LMR makes a vinyl cleaner but I generally use paint thinner as someone had already said. No need to sand if cleaned with a mild solvent. The dye can be purchased from most paint stores or you can order a spray can of
dye from LMR for about $20.00. Any thing on the airbag cover is dangerous and will be blown off right in the passengers face when deployed. I would replace airbag module and dye black if that is what you want. Mark

Didn't have time to wait for dye, and it wasn't taking anything I threw at it. Realistically, it shouldn't blow off at the passenger, anymore than the plastic that's already there would.
At the speed the airbag deploys, a big vinyl sticker replicating carbon fiber over it won't do anything. The backing on it will never hold against the blow out force of it.

L-O-L.
The dangers of carbon fiber wrapping.
