Plastic Dash?

Have seen lots of drag cars over the years with the thin plastic dashes that look like the stock units. was thumbing through a mustang magazine yesterday and saw a sn95 with this thin sort of plastic dash. I am interested to know how much they cost and where to buy them. my stock dash needs repair or replacement due to cracking and would like to know if this would be a cheap fix and easy way to drop a few lbs in the process. some info as to where to purchase these would be great as well and some first hand experience as to how practical this would be in a "daily driver". the idea intrigues me though. i would also feel much better about cutting holes in a role cage in something like that than a nice condition stock dash. Thanks.

Get a used one from a scrap car. Race dashes have no air bag holes, also has rough unfinished edges and a few other things. You can get them made from Fiberglass/Carbon fiber but your looking between 4-700 for the dashes and you wont have nearly the accessibility as you do with the Stock on.

Your best bet like I said is go to a scrap yard, get a good one clean it up, do a heater core while you have it out and youll be good.

good advice, thanks. just for kicks though does anyone know how much those plastic ones run? the weight reduction was what appealed to me really, and i could cut holes for the airbags, glove box etc.
