i've been thinking about taking the high flow cats out of my 95gt for some time now. i know it will be louder im looking for that. what i dont know is if i will end up liking the sound, right now the car is nearly silent until you give it more then 1/4 throttle. exhaust is in my cig along with the rest of my mods.

its hard to reduce a $500 H-pipe into basicly a summit $170 off road pipe.
what do you guys think should i go for it or leave it be?

do you have to pass the sniffer test for inspection? if no, then un-catted all the way.

no sniffer within 60 miles, i live in oregon man. we can grow and smoke pot for god sake who cars about the air we breath.

all joking aside, i have no deq or inspections so theres no problem with removing them from that standpoint. my neighbors might be pissed and a few local cops but whateva they can suck a fat one for all i care.

If you have a Hi-flow cat, I can't see any reason to get rid of it unless you just want the added noise.

duh09, your on the money. i've had the same exhaust setup for going on 3 years now. its getting old, im tired of the same old sound every single day. yeah i daily the vert winter n all.

the Hpipe and catback were already on the car when i got it. i have no idea who the manufacturer is of the H-pipe is but its a qaulity peice. i'll pull it tonight or tomorrow and take some pics.

now i just gotta figure out what im going to use to abort the cats out of the pipe with. i dont think a coat hanger will work.

Pros: Great sound, i'm catless with flows and it sounds pretty good imo.

Cons: I don't know if yours does now, but it'll probably drooooooooooonnnneeeeeeeeee.

I'd do it though, a quiet mustang is pointless.

You might be able to find someone willing to trade an O/R H for yours if you look around.

duh09 i've tried that a few times but people flake.

slykin, it already drones a fair amount. only time i dont like it is when i go 500+ mile drives it puts me to sleep!

my car isn't all that quite, but it could use some more growl. i want to be able to hurt the ears of the civic kids when i pull away from them.

It'll definitely help make it louder.. though i'm not sure it'll be as loud as you're wanting. I wouldn't mind if mine was louder, but then i'm real used to it.

lol yeah, the flows will be next to go if its not what im looking for.

a friend of mine has some 3 inch in and out mufflers that were on his omega. i wish he still had his single chamber race flows. those things sounded amazing on his 406.

sound is the only thing you'd gain from removing them, I'd personally just get a different cat-back. Cons like people mentioned would be smelly exhaust fumes and more drone.

If you do get rid of it sell it and buy an off-road pipe, don't hack it up cause then it's worth nothing. If you sell it you'll come away with some extra cash.

I love the smell of it.. especially my car with the cams now.. it's great. The sound is better too.. trust me its worth it.. i've had mine off for 2 of the 3 years i've owned my mustang, and the only time i'd put the stock h pipe on is to pass emissions.. but i'm registering my car in another county so fuck that.

If you have high flow cats already, just get a new cat back.

This coming from a guy with long tubes, 3" X pipe no cats to single chamber flow masters dumped under car and a cam with 599 lift.
