well i decide to start getting some prices on how much it was going to cost to replace the top on my 94 gt. the top i have right now is orginial from factory and to be honest doesnt look that bad for almost 15 years old. so far i have checked out two different shops and have gotten two completely different prices. the first shop quoted me roughly $975 to replace the top and back window, plus would need my car for two days. the second shop quoted me $525 to replace just the top and said it would only take a day. i was just wondering what some of you guys have paid in the past? also if there is any certain material that would be better then the stock vinyl?

Your car have a white top? If so, and you're keeping it that way I'd just stay with the stock material. Mine is white w/ white top and I'm keeping the stock stuff because you rarely see that combo and plus everybody has a black top. You dont have to replace the window if you dont want to. So I'd look at the quality of work at the cheaper place and if all is good, I'd go with them.

I've bought 2 tops and 1 back glass. My 1st top was not the best quality. I believe I bought it from 50resto. I cannot find how much it was though. I do have it cost me $225 to have it installed. It was not done so good. That was when I had my top slashed in 3 places.
The next one cost me $575. It was by far the best throughout!! It was just for the new top!
The back glass was $175. It was w/o the defroster, too. It did not work, so I bought it w/o. I may go back 1 day though!

I did not know I should have asked where I had my last one put on about replacing the stuff. I just bought from 50resto. When they can make it, they know they can make it right; or something. That was 4 years ago, sorry! That 1st shop I used was good, but not the best I thought! I use only this shop now for all I can. They are the ones who got my top fixed after it flew open by itself. I had to buy donor parts off a 98 to replace on mine.

I had saddle tops both times!

Sounds too high for me! Just check around and stuff! Also though, that $575 was a very good deal! That was about my 2nd time to use them. Now, I've gone there around 5-7 times.

I had mine replaced on my 95. i went to a local shop in sacramento(Katt Kustoms) the verttop company he ordered for me was "ectalon"(not sure on spelling) and it looks so damn good. he did have my car for two days though. i also had a the window replaced w/defroster. it cost me round $1100. the top he ordered is more durable than any other i have seen. very happy with the job.

Didn't you just quote yourself? Kinda confused, sorry!

I think the place that did mine made the top their selves, maybe. All I know is that it came back to me perfectly!

So were you trying to ask another question then? It looked like you were quoting another comment but clicked the wrong spot.
