I am curious how you know what length to get? I hear 1.6 alot and a couple of other numbers but have no idea what would work best for me. I have a set of trickflow heads NIB I need a set for, I already have tall valve covers and plan on using a trickflow stage 1 cam.

most cam shafts are based off of a 1.62:1 ratio

by stepping up to the 1.72:1 ratio you would be increasing your lift numbers on your cam specs essentially. unless your engine builder specifies that you run a different rocker ratio I would stick with the standard 1.6:1 ratio.

Factory stock is 1.6. Stock Cobra is 1.7. You need to make sure there are no piston to valve clearance issues. You may be able to call Trickflow and they can give you the best way to go. I ve seen good results with 1.6 on intake and 1.7 on exhaust.

ya, id just go ahead with the 1.6s. you can possible have ptv clearance issues with the 1.7s and then you'll just be out the money for the rockers and be behind again because you'll need to order some 1.6s. they are also easy to find used...

makes sense fellas. I was trying to keep everything trickflow to make sure it would work together so the idea of calling them sounds like it would make sence and I will give that a try. But thanks for the info as I am trying to learn all this.

Now educate me on lifters and pushrods? I have been told that you need to measure the pushrods to be sure they are the right length but it would seem to me that trickflow would probably know this as well right? I had a shop put on some systemax heads a couple of years ago and they put the wrong pushrods in. After we corrected it I had it dyno tuned and blew it on the dyno. I have always wondered if the short time we ran it with the wrong rods(10-15 mins maybe) caused this.

I assume I will want roller lifters as well?

Like I said, trying to learn so forgive the newb questions.

what brand would you consider to be a good deal on rockers? There are alot of brands that are half the price of TF, would they compair in quality? My car was formerly owned by my mother so I am never selling her and would like to do it right, and do it once. If it was that important to get the TF and pay that price I will but if there is a cheaper alternative that would last just as long what would it be?
