i have never used rp but i use only mobil 1 and have been thrilled by it. my service van has 250k on it and my mustang has 120k and neither use any oil. mobil 1 was one of the first to sell synthetic oil

mobil1 is not full synthetic... some people will not use it... IMO, its just as good as royal purple and lucas despite not being fully synthetic...

I like lucas though cause the name is and proven and cause the bottles have little American flags on them... Hell yeah I'm American

i'm not sure who told you that but it is fully synthetic.

"Mobil 1 5W-30 is a high performance fully synthetic engine oil designed to exceed the industry's toughest standards and outperform all conventional oils.. Mobil 1 5W-30 is engineered to help keep your engine running like new and extend engine life. Mobil 1 technology has been selected as original equipment by leading car builders such as, Chevrolet Corvette, Cadillac, Mercedes Benz AMG, Porsche, Dodge Viper, and Dodge Ram SRT 10."

they wouldn't use a blend oil in hand built cars like the viper

i used to use mobil 1, and it worked great, but my motor was a little tired and it used a little bit of oil. when i got a new motor, i switched to
royal purple, and i dont think i will use anything else. although, this is not confirmed, but a friend of mine told me that an independent lab
broke down the ingredients of both royal purple and mobil 1 and found out that it was exactly the same thing, only purple dye in the r.p.
i dont know how much i believe it, because you can't believe everything you hear, but all i know is i will still use royal purple, because
who knows? maybe te purple dye adds 10 horsepower?? haha :hammer:

Talking endlessly about oil is dumb. A good synthetic is a good sythetic. A good conventional is a good conventional. None of us are going to drive our Mustangs a million miles. Very, very few of us need uber-oil for our cars.

I've seen a shortblock that was torn down after 230K miles with conventional oil and the bearings looked great too.

What I'm saying is, spending all that money on expensive oil isn't worth it for joe average mustang. I use royal purple, but only in my racecar and in my uber-expensive motor in the silver car.

Do you have a motor that cost a fortune, or is it stock?

If it's stock, don't waste your money.

yeah, its stock, planning in putting money into it but thats not for a while. I think ill try royal purple on my next oil change, and see if i can feel the diffrence in some manner. I know getting expensive transmission fluid makes a big diffrence (ben there, done that) so i guess i have to try an expensive motor oil at least once.

i would deff. recommend a synthetic oil no matter what it's used for. don't waste your money on blends though, half conv. half syn.

Any difference you feel will likely be perceived, not actual. Changing every fluid in the car to the expensive stuff might get you 2-3 hp, but given the cost of it, I don't think it's worth it.

If the motor has already lived ten (hundreds?) of thousands of miles on conventional, there's not much point.

you can live and drive a honda but wouldn't you rather drive a mustang? syn oil is just giving your engine the very best. it may not absolutely need it but why not give it the best protection available. i want my stang to last as long as possible

Sure, treat the car well, but spend money where it makes sense. Spending twice as much to buy Royal Purple for a daily driver just doesn't make sense to me. Even with conventional oil, it will still last several hundred thousand miles.
