does anyone know if it will indeed give more underhood clearance? if it could give me a lil more space than the factory cobra one gives me that would be great.

no i am not having cooling issues, i was thinking it might help take some of the heat that my vortech and engine make out from under the hood, not to mention it probably would look good.

Install a Mark 8 fan. It flows something close to 3800 CFM. That should fix up everything.

Heat exactor does not even work until you are up some speed, so that the air can blow out through the radiator, and mostly escape though the hood. On street driving, you will see little to no difference what so ever.
actually viper fans work better.......

Yes it has a 1 1/2" to 2" rise so it does give some extra clearance. I have heard good things about the Kaenen heat extractors although I'm not sure how much of a rise it has compared to the factory Saleen ones.

I just found an original one that I bought since one of my S351's didn't come with it. I had both cars on a cruise last month for the first time together and when we stopped I lifted the hood on both of them and the one with the stock hood and insulation you could just feel the heat coming up when it was lifted, the heat extractor was much cooler.

I have one of the Saleen heat extractors. on a cool day, I can see heat rising from them, and they seem to keep the engine a little cooler. it has about 1 1/2" or 2" of clearance. I am running the S351 hood. a word about the Saleen Racecraft stuff, the real stuff doesnt fit well at all. my hood is about 1/4" short and bows in the middle. But, as long as it clears my 351w build, im happy!

They are awesome looking hoods!!

I would find out from Dugan how much of a rise it has, it could be a Kaenen hood. I know of someone who bought a 2000 Cobra R carbon fiber hood off Ebay and there is no rise at all, It's like stock. Then I have seen others with a rise.
