Shift lever advice needed

The shift lever on my car is too stubby for my liking. Took the bezel off and found the PO had installed a Powertower 5.0. Kewl! Lower boot had center circle cut out completely. First, anybody got suggestions on replacement levers? Second, is it worth replacing the lower boot so it doesnt have a gap around the shifter?

Yeah, it's a ragtop, so any help on noise and smell reduction would be nice I guess...

Just glad when I opened it up I found a good shifter and not some cheap boy racer knockoff.

Found a cheap billet lever on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Short-Shif...2004-Mustang-Manual-Transmission/273895492112. I'm planning on a boneyard trip next week. Would a stock lever would fit on my aftermarket shifter?

If you like a taller handle, try to find a hurst handle. They are typically expensive but I absolutely loved mine.

Thanks. Looking more for one putting the knob closer to my hand, not necessarily taller. Had a 70 Road Runner with a pistol grip floor shifter that was over 2.5' long!

Almost, but the one I had pointed back instead of curving and pointing up.

I have a hurst in my 94. When I first installed it with the stock handle I would actually hit my knuckles on the dash in 1-3-5. I got it used and the person I got it from had the same problem so they took a different handle and cut it and then rewelded it so that it was comfortable. I wish I had more info on which handle it was to help but beware that if you ask for a longer stick, you might get what you asked for.

I was talking to a buddy at work this morning aand he put a bug in my head. My prior toy was a 70 Road Runner 440 six pack with a pistol grip shifter. I could adapt the shifter from a 71 B/E body car to the Mustang to pay tribute to my old ride, but even a repop would cost me over $400. It would be very cool, but too pricey. Damn!

This is a UPR "Rockcrusher" lever that I used to have in my GT.

I cut about 2in off the bottom and drilled new holes so it would fit my triax.

I even had a custom Redline products boot made to fit it.

I found a nice drilled billet UPR shift lever. Too many choices!
